Waiting On The First Huge Patch - And Patch Notes

We already know there is going to be a dev stream in early July. We are going to learn much more about Season 1 during the stream. Hopefully we get a new blog for Season 1 as well.

We also know that they had 13 pages of physical notes during their campfire chat that pertains to the next huge patch. This should address immediate issues with the current game including more XP coming from Nightmare Dungeons.

I bring up this one thing because this is basically the current endgame activity outside of Helltide. It is getting tedious doing Nightmares over and over again for mostly what amounts to Glyph XP. I plan on getting my Glyphs to 20 btw. The gear drops from Nightmares quickly get to a point where they don’t matter anymore in the build.

Everyone is talking about seasons right now, when I think the main focus by all, including Blizz should be the current game. The details and implementation of this patch is going to somewhat determine how much game-play time I am going to put into D4 in the short term.

Of course, the details of Season 1 are important too and may intertwine with my decisions on game-play time as well. What part of the season comes back to Eternal???

I am almost level 80 right now and have, for the most part, enjoyed my journey. I think the game is off to a really good start. This company has the resources to do anything, it’s just a function of ideas.

Dev stream and patch notes - can’t wait to see what’s in store! Longer term, details on the first expansion will be a major focus for me.

Thanks for reading!

This is a corporate dumpster fire of a company.

99.9% of its employees work their little 9-5 job M-F and then BOLT to the door when it is time to clock out.

What do you want them to do???

Yeah all those newbies with surprised Pikachu faces that can’t accept the fact of starting from 0 in season but it works like this since 20 years in Diablo 2.

13 page patch reeks of mismanagement. You don’t just roll all the fixes and tuning passes into one patch and expect it to work. It will be a complete disaster with many new bugs, new tuning problems and performance issues. They should have started rolling out fixes a week ago, starting with the obvious first priority of teleports to NM dungeons.

Season 1’s already finished. People asking for changes to it are screaming into the void.

Hopefully they take community feedback into account after the Season has gone live; and people have actually experienced the content.

I expect…poop, as the vast majority of complaints were aired in beta.

You all really cant just wait for the patch to launch, naturally? They are trying to give you all some nice surprises. Bout to give you all 13 blank pages on stream

13 pages all double spaced, size 18 font and 4 inch margins…

I want them to show some passion in their work.

The problem is the leadership of the company is toxic.

I’ve seen both sides of the coin - bosses that are great to work for will have many employees going the extra mile because they love it.

Whenever those great bosses retire or move on, if they get replaced by a bad boss, you see an immediate shift in attitude from the cohort and suddenly people are just collecting paychecks and bolting for the door.

This company is too mismanaged for its employees to be passionate about the product. That is why this game is a soulless dumpster fire that plays like it was drafted by a committee.

Yeah - look how they “fixed” the item drop from druids and in turn broke the barbarian mechanic. What kind of internal testing are they doing?

Not everyone that played Diablo did seasons, it took Diablo 2 like 5 years to start them not sure on Diablo 3 I didn’t play that one and by that time the avg players moved to new games never experiencing seasons

That makes their complains even more pointless that they hate starting from 0 on seasons and want to change it for those who like it but they won’t play it anyway.

That’s who is playing it now tho… Like 15million of them just say screw those people?

What are you implying? That their employees don’t really like their job, they should still do some work outside of office hours, or what?

A company with the culture described above is the type where employees do bare minimum just to get their paycheck. That’s what I am implying. Even when they are in the office - who knows what work gets done. How long was this game in development? How many hundreds of staff did you see listed?

I’m so excited for this

Sounds like any company that respects a work-life balance

And from my experience in IT, sometimes I work like 60-70 hours on a high priority issue, but generally, I work like 20 ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Just something to note is that most people will be playing on seasonal realms. Your eternal realm progress always stays. Honestly other than getting familiar with the game there is little reason to stick around too much on the eternal realms as you’ll have tons of gold and new items from playing seasonal. Even your characters will migrate to eternal eventually with whatever they got from seasons.

I mean… people act like lvl 100 opens up a new world of possibilities… when the fact is the opposite. When you are 100… you’re done and now make an alt or wait for season. Theres nothing magical about it… seasons cant come soon enough for those that grinded hard.

There needs to be some type of incentive to do things at 100. Theres essentially no trade, items you find likely wont be useful for alts and require alt to be 100 anyway, social functions dont exist, no chase items other than the impossibly rare.

Uber Lilith is horribly tuned, horrible hit boxes, most classes essentially require a specialized build that needs full respec. And its loot/rewards is nothing exciting.

Even if there was 4-5 ubers that are well balanced good fights… theyll eventually get boring if you have have nothing to work towards. And noone wants greater rifts 0.5 as endgame(nightmare dungeons that are basically greater rifts, with stupid tasks to do so the doors open) im ok with nightmare dungeons being a way to level as long as they remove the stupid tasks… bit not as endgame content.
