I’m investing so much time into my guy now. Why would I want to have to do it all over again? And again for season2, etc
That is unfortunately how seasons works in ARPG’s; you relevel a new character every start.
I don’t like the seasons system either and I hope they can figure out something else besides seasons so we can keep progressing our mains.
The reason I don’t like seasons is because I have done them several times in D3 just lkke I have been doing Bhaal/Meph runs ad naseum in D2. I’ m over that and dungeon spamming and are looking for something new (open world).
I am currently only lvl 64 on my main Sorcerer and I am farmikg Helltides, sidequests etc to get cosmetics and progress through the world and I love that part of the game
The only reason for me to roll a new character at season start is if Blizzard would release a new class (hopefully a holy magical caster or a Paladin).
I have simply no interest in relevelling any of the classes we currently have availible and will continue on my main until we have a new class that interests me.
Battlepasses can be progressed by current characters I hope?
You don’t “have to,” you can stay on the character you are on and stay on the old servers.
Season 1 is like on different servers.
that is a no, battlepass is seasonal only
what? did you not play Diablo III? It’s always been that way why would it change now?
Just stay on the eternal realm you are not required to play seasons.
Shame.
Thanks for reply!
Because we don’t have to do things the same way we’ve been doing for 10+ years?
Rolling out a season without a new class is a waste of time and the open world is the best part of Diablo 4.
Would love focused updates that let us continue progress with our mains.

That’s purely your opinion.
At least it will go faster assuming you have unlocked the first 3 levels of renown in each area. Starting with 20 Paragon points would have been nice as well but have to re-earn that.
You are if you wanna get the battlepass…confirmed by devs on twitter.
The issue is that there are only two systems that really seem to work in the online RPG space. That is seasons, and power creep.
Seasons tend to be done by ARPGs, whereas power creep tends to be done by MMORPGs.
With seasons, you simply start over every season. Fully fresh, new character. Maybe some things transfer (such as the altars of lilith), but it’s generally a pretty fresh start for everyone. This allows new and old players to come back to the game, on an equal playing field to everyone else.
With power creep, every major release (whether that be a new boss, or dungeon, or mechanic) drops much better gear than what was previously available. This means that whilst you don’t have to level again, every piece of gear you currently own suddenly becomes meaningless the second a new release hits.
Power creep has most of the downsides of seasons (the majority of what you previously did is meaningless) - the only advantage it has is that you don’t have to actually level again. But it also doesn’t have any of the advantages that seasons have, which is putting people on an equal playing field and drawing in both new and old players
If you compare something like WoW to something like D3…
Well, if I had never played WoW before and was getting into the game, that’s a really intimidating prospect. There’s 11 expansions (or 13? I forget), there’s over 20 years of content, people have invested thousands of hours onto their single character, etc. The thought of having to compete with that is insane. Just to catch up in mere level alone is going to take… probably 50 hours
But thinking about getting into D3 having never played it before? Well, sure, people have more knowledge… but once a season starts, we’re all on an equal field in terms of in-game strength. We’re all level 1. We’re all doing the same content again. If I want some tips, I can just watch a youtube video of some gameplay, or a stream. Because everyone that’s playing is starting from the same place I am
Personally, I would much rather seasons over power creep. Seasons imo achieve much more, whilst also being less punishing to both new and old players. Obviously there will still be people who hate seasons, or people who just prefer power creep, but this genre and especially this franchise has always been known for seasons. It’s likely never going to change, whether it’s diablo 2 or diablo 8
but it takes so much longer than poe that the big ufff
What else would there be to do every season?
You get to max level in like a day. You’re fully geared by the end of the week. DIV is a bit different. The exp and drops are worse.
Yep, that’s the sad fact of this game’s design. If you like to get invested in one character, then the game’s probably not targeted at you as its primary audience.
This is a game for people who don’t want characters, they just want vessels for killing monsters that get reset every 3 months and have no personality except a kill count.
I hope someday they realize they can have both, but until they do… it means this game is a fairly short-term investment for players like us. I’ve gotten enough entertainment out of it already to justify my monetary investment, and I’m not done yet, so it doesn’t bother me too much. But it definitely is unfortunate.
So… seasons last ~3 months - in D3, you get to max level in a day? And fully geared in a week? Then what do you do for the other 11 weeks?
Seems perfectly fine to me that they’d try to increase the grind so you actually have something to do past the first week of a season
You play another game or look for small improvements in the same gear you have. I just quit the game.
Yeah, but the loot is really bad. There is no carrot here.
This is so true. Diablo III is a seasonal week. Diablo IV… well thats to be seen.
