I’ve been trying to find out how to simply use my various melee weapons on my druid, tried different weapons, changing around skills/spells but it only allows switching between a werewolf or a werebear.
From my Google search and searching in these forums, it looks like the druid cannot in fact melee fight with only the various weapons, which is crazy! I get you can use the storm strike but that’s not the same as melee fighting. I honestly can’t believe this isn’t even an option, it’s like not allowing a player in a FPS to use guns, it’s literally an inherent part of the gameplay mechanics of Diablo to use the various handheld weapons in melee fighting, well it was apparently up until this game.
Blizzard, can you please enable true melee fighting with weapons for the druid? One shouldn’t have to be forced to use the shapeshifting as the only means to melee fight and the storm strike doesn’t really count.
Left click attack should be allowed to be reserved without having a skill attached and be strictly melee.
As is, the druid feels incredibly restricted and is preventing this character from reaching its full potential. No offense but this was a terrible design choice from a gameplay mechanics perspective, especially since all previous Diablo games allowed the left click attack to be melee only. Please consider making the left click attack melee only, thank you.

You have Claw and Maul. Constantly using Claw with my poison shred build. Melee is hard on this game due to all the CC. Insta killing elites with shred jumping is the way to go for me
I mean barbarian is right there if youre looking for a melee weapon fantasy.
Its like playing a sorcerer and being upset you cant use guns

Storm Strike is melee fighting. Saying it’s not is like saying Thor never added lightning to his hits. It’s on theme for Druids, they get their strength from the wild and the elements. If you want to swing weapons there’s three other classes that do that and two of them are pretty committed to it.
For the record, this function is EXACTLY what you get at the beginning of the storyline.

What do you mean storm strike doesnt count? Its a melee attack with lightning… you literally whack them with your weappn, how is that not melee fighting? Because of the added lightning effect? Like you want just a purely basic weapon attack with no added effects? And without that, its bad design in your opinion?

I use Stormstrike with my Symbiotic Trampleslide build personally. It’s actually a lot of fun because I switch from dashing through enemies, hitting them with Hurricane, surviving with Earthen Bulwark and Cyclone Armor, hitting ranged and single targets with Landslide and nailing enemies with Stormstike to lower cooldown. And I’m in melee 90% of the time for it.
If you want straight up pure weapon fighting, play a Barbarian or melee Rogue. Werebear, Werewolf and nature spells are huge part of Druid identitiy.
