Wait, did they just massively reduce XP from killing monsters that are higher level than you?

This is what the patch notes say:

Experience

  • We are adjusting bonus experience rewards for killing monsters that are a higher Level than the player.
    • Pre-Season of the Malignant bonuses:
      • 1 Level higher: +15%.
      • 2 Levels higher: +20%.
      • 3+ Levels higher: +25%.
    • Post-Season of the Malignant:
      • 1.5% bonus per Level up to 10 Levels.
        • Ex:
          • +1 level: +1.5%.
          • +2 levels: +3%.
          • +10 levels: +15%.

Is that really what people have been asking for? So instead of getting +25% XP for killing monsters 3 levels above you, you now only get 4.5%. And only 15% for monsters that are 10 levels above you!

Here I thought that levelling a character during the season would be somewhat acceptable but seeing this I’m not sure I even want to play the game anymore. Either I’m missing something or Blizzard are completely tone deaf…

i don’t care, you get top tier gear at level 50, so why does it matter?

man my name is gloom and i’m baffled by all this whining.

i’m literally dispirited IRL and you people scare me with your nuances

Im assuming to stop people from rushing someone from 1 to 70 in the matter of hours.

I can’t tell if it’s only if your in a group or does this affect solo play too?

The notes mention it’s specifically to stop boosting, which is a great thing, totally agree with that

but also seems like it will stop skilled players from being able to level more optimally by tackling challenging content, which isn’t so great

Makes sense killing mobs that were only 3 levels higher was a complete joke and made dungeons mindless. At least this with the 10 level difference it may be a tiny bit more enjoyable.

Also enemies will start trailing behind you in level sooner in WT3 and WT4 so you basically will only be earning XP from NM dungeons, helltides, worldboss and gathering legions. since you get xp debuffs for fighting lower level enemies in normal activities.

Just finished reading the patch notes and it is pretty obvious that they are trying to funnel people into nightmare dungeons. There are buffs to NM dungeon rewards so that’s where they want everyone to be.

Of course, thats their best shot at a so called end game ATM

So D4 was an opend world game for 1 month. Now the open world will be a wasteland.

Judging by all the other nerfs, they don’t like it that skillful players are able to kill monsters higher level than them.

Top tier gear at level 50?? good one  now try story with flat earth…

That’s be great if they didn’t just nerf every class in the game into the ground by nerfing damage reduction across the board even reduced the armor stacking aspect I wish you all good luck in this season one lol I’ll try back in a year maybe this was the push I needed

This is done so you can’t really power level other people. This was expected. You can still power level other character, it just takes longer now.

Seems more like they are trying to reduce how effective powerlevelling is whilst still offering a way for legit levelling to get some bonuses. When you consider the bit from the notes after that you haven’t quoted, I mean. But, yeh, it’s an XP nerf.

There will be more xp bonuses that last all season from the free season pass though.

lol how much time do you have on your hands to troll everybody for simply expressing their opinions? tbh im worried about you man. is it insecurity or just projection? this is like the 20th posts you’ve felt the need to add absolutely nothing constructive to.

No one in WT3 or WT4 is farming non-NM dungeons for XP. The only reason someone in WT3/4 would even be doing non-NM dungeons is to complete their renown.

It helps make the game something you have to work a little bit for now instead of just handing things to people causing them to get bored faster!

I must have some serious bad luck because I’m level 73 on my druid with gear that’s still ivl 700 or under. I don’t have a single ilvl 800+ yet.

They also hyperslammed boosted xp, making boosting much slower.
