Wait a minute..this isn't a MMO

It will force solo players into playing in groups, but it wont make solo players love groups content

Moreso, it might end up burning solo players and making them leave the game

That’s what I’m doing right now just in case I get paired with a bunch of noobs. I have a backup plan lol.

It’s tough leveling a new account from scratch. It’s like watching your Math teacher explain things the most boring way possible.

Oh the old spit in your face meme :joy::rofl:. How do some of you get so personally offended by optional things in a video game? So soft.

It has absolutely nothing to do with your previous comment being hypocritical. lol.

Yeah it only took them 11 years to add SSF to D3. Less than a year before D4 's launch, too.

I laugh at this. Battle.net was going all the time for both games, and even in Resurrected you can still find groups easily last time I played it. Speed leveling Baal runs, for example.

LAN parties were quite popular for D2 as well, before high speed internet became a staple.

You ever think the low multiplayer capability might have been a symptom of the times? How many people had access to high end internet or even decent computers in 1996 and 2000?

Because multiplayer is usually more challenging and requires more coordination, on top of finding people capable in the first place.

I’d ask the same thing about SSF. Why did you need SSF mode? It’s not like you can’t play SSF by your own choice. Do you really need a mode to force yourself not to engage with other players?

With PoE they have SSF leaderboards, which also makes me laugh.

“I want to play solo, entirely by myself! But I also want a measuring stick to tell me how well I’m doing against other people, even though I don’t care about other people at all.”

Yeah, okay.

Which, again, doesn’t work if there’s extra challenge required for the multiplayer content. Very few players do challenge for the sake of challenge, and even then they’ll mostly only do it to say they did it, and then not do it any longer.

Players gravitate to the path of least resistance. This is well-known. Multiplayer is not often that path - although it should be noted that in Diablo 3 running max or near max Greater Rifts was almost entirely done in a 4 person group because that WAS the path of least resistance.

And that’s fine, but if you get pissed off on the mere mention of multiplayer - or at cosmetic only rewards - then I’d say you’ve got deeper issues.

Are they doing that? Isn’t Citadel cosmetics only, and Temper reset scrolls? If the scrolls only drop there, then maybe it’s a SLIGHT issue. However, at the core it’s really no different than being forced to run Nightmares to level your glyphs. Or being forced to run Pit in Vessel to go up Torment levels. You’re always going to be forced into something less ideal at some point because everyone has a different opinion on what “ideal” means.

For example, I have a friend who hates leveling in the current Helltide-favored system because they think it gets boring very quickly. I don’t mind it at all, especially since it goes quite fast. And that’s another example of people viewing things differently. Some people like the fast leveling system. I think it’s too fast.

Little different to say someone has blinders on than to call someone a biased loser.

MMO or not, all I want is a good game.

That might have been an excuse for D1 and D2, but not D3, whene grouping eas extremely more efficient and still people decided not to use it. And everyone had internet

But according to you its so much fun, right? Dont you play games for fun? Why would ignore the option that its “so much fun” just because of a little hassle?

Of course its not needed, its only for competition sake (which is not my cup of tea). You can make sure you play alone, but you cant make sure that other guy in the leaderboard does

Players go to the place where they get more fun. If they gravitated to the path of least resistance, games in general would always be played in the easier difficulty

That doesnt happen, even in games where there are no extra rewards for playing them in higher difficulties (we have great examples in recent games like Wukong or Space Marines 2, with a LOT of people chosing higher difficulties)

What you fail to accept is that people have more fun playing solo

Yes, they are, since DC is the ONLY end game in a PAID expansion. This isnt about rewards, this is about content. When you only add two non campaign activities in a 40 bucks expansion, one is for getting runes and leveling, and the other is endgame, and you left solo players away from oneof that, its FORCING them to play DC or just stop playing the expansion

So if I understand it correctly, in typical Blizzard fashion, they are going to gate a literal “must have” item behind group content that many people don’t want to participate in?

I say typical because that’s how Blizzard makes unpopular content seem popular. I just assume it gives them usage metrics to justify the development hours they sink into particular content.

So brick your 3 GA legendary, and whether you want to play the D4 MMO or not, off to the Citadel you will go.

Nicely played, Blizz. Nicely played.

What’s the big issue here?

It’s a lot of fun finding someone in Chat and playing together for a little bit and maybe helping out with an Item they need or kill a few bosses together, do some NMD’s together, push some Pit…

And plus it’s more fun finding someone who might actually need help with understanding something or would feel more comfortable doing a piece on content with someone.

D4 is still an ARPG at heart. There’s nothing wrong with playing with others. I encourage it.

Says online co-op right on the store page. I guess you better get used to it.

The issue is half of these diablo fan bois are WoW wash outs. They were so bad at wow, they had to leave and swear off playing with other humans. They are afraid that if they make group play a thing, the mean people are going to kick them from the groups again. I guess don’t suck.

You left yourself out. No gaming company needs to make an anti social game for you to hide in. Go play Skyrim where you can truly be alone.

This guy thinks this is a new concept. Needs to have a refresher on gaming history. You don’t actively need to play with someone to be ranked against them. Gaming started with this way back in the day. Pacman, Donkey Kong, Space invaders, centipede , galaga etc etc. All were single player games all had rankings.

There is no progression locked behind the coop dungeon. That makes it an optional feature like PVP. Sure, you get some cool stuff in both, but you don’t need to play either to make progress. If players leave because of an optional feature, then that’s on them. But I highly doubt that will happen.

No, it’s not. It really isn’t ANY fun for many of us. It’s a complete PITA.

How is it a pain in the butt? You type in the Chat “anyone want to kill Andy a few times? Let’s go!” and then you guys go play. How’s that difficult?

I still got random people on my Friends List that Whisper to me “want to go kill stuff in Helltide” and I’m like “yeah let’s go dude!”

It’s super chill dude.

Wow delves are more exciting than this game.

Noting wrong with playing with others

FORCING people to group to do some content in an ARPG is wrong though

People could already group, and it was more efficient to play in groups. Party finder, great, no issues there

But when you make a paid expansion, and half the content of that expansion is locked behing forced group, there is a BIG issue

1.) It isnt even close to being half the content of VOH. Not sure where you are getting that lie from. It is one of many new features being added to the game along with mercs, runes, group finder and new solo dungeon

2.)You are not forced to do that coop dungeon. You can compmetely ignore it like PVP and still progress your character. Unless you are a cosmetics junkie or think an extra roll on temper is a must have, feel free to ignore it.

DC is no where near half the content of VoH. There’s a new region with the usual trimmings, runes, mercenaries and a new class. A dungeon that has weekly rewards is hardly half the content of it especially since you’ll probably only run it two or three times before you’re done with the season.
