Looking for some advice on this. I’m debating right now between using Conceited Aspect or Biting Cold Aspect. My Conceited Aspect is 22% increased damage while a barrier is active. My Biting Cold Aspect is a 33% chance to apply vulnerable to frozen enemies.
I’m able to have near 100% barrier up time so the damage bonus from Conceited Aspect is pretty much always relevant. I’m using blizzard to freeze enemies so I do not get the automatic freeze from frost nova.
I don’t fully understand how vulnerable damage mechanics work, except for observation that they get absolutely dropped as soon as vulnerable is applied. Intuitively, I would think that Biting Cold is better for me than Conceited; however, this would only apply to mobs and elites. Bosses do not freeze so I’d have to rely on casting ice shards to apply vulnerable. In this case, Conceited is likely the better choice.
Any help or suggestions here would be great!
Interested to know if they fixed Conceited Aspect or it just works because you are a sorceress. Have you actually checked that the Aspect is doing what it says it does?
I tested it with Temerity Barrier as a Rogue, and it literally did nothing when my barrier was active. Somebody also pointed out the same thing in the forums.
Bump. Anyone else? 30% chance of vulnerable vs flat 20% damage increase.
It depends on how your playstyle is, because if you play with Mystical Frost Nova, then you apply Vulnerable 100% to all enemies when you frost nova, and that counts for all your frost novas that may be generated from things like Iceheart Brais (Legs). So really, you wouldn’t need to increase you chance to Vul. at all, but rather increase your damage overall, or your damage while vulnerable.
So for example, I pump Flame Shield up right before Frost Nova, to get the increase in damage while barrier up, while also running through and spreading the fire DOT which also increases damage, plus applies burning, and then Frost Nova. That chains up into other Frost Novas, that also chain Shards of their own, that chain more frost novas, etc. etc. etc. and you just sit and watch everything die.
