Does anyone know if Blizzard will have the voice chat fixed before the Server Slam, it wasn’t working for me during the Open Beta? Blizzard did say that some folks will have issues with it during the Open Beta.
Didn’t even know there was voice chat. I have avoided voice chat with randoms since MW2 days.
All I know for sure, is that I couldn’t use voice chat in crossplatform mode during the open beta (but I can’t claim it affected every player or if it was my PC or the console player I was playing with which had an issue).
I gave up after… testing, testing, 1, 2, 1, 2 alriiiiighty then!
It was disabled. I hope they enable it in the server slam.
Discord is just superior in every way, no one really bothers with in game chat anymore. Even more so now that consoles have access to discord. Its super nice being able to hop into discord via my xbox.
Blizzard does have a voice chat function that is built into the Battlenet App on our desktops. It works like Discord Lite, and has both chat and voice. It lets you drag people to a group channel and such. Or just do one on one chat.
What it does not do is cross platform voice chat between PC and consoles. It is not integrated into all the games as a default either. You would need to alt tab, use it to set up voice, then alt tab back in.
I have no idea if they plan to set it up with in-game controls for D4 or not.
Just use discord , everyone seems to have it and easy to use especially with PC
It didn’t seem to work early on, but there were also a bunch of weird party bugs that first weekend. At one point, after it not working, I was assuming it wasn’t and had the headset and mic on and someone in party said they could hear me and then we used it (I believe this was the second beta weekend). But to be honest, it’s only helpful if there are no DCs or other party issues. Discord may be a better solution because you can continue to chat or tell people you’re trying to reconnect. That first weekend, that’s what we wound up doing - using Discord, which came in handy more than once after dcs to tell the others still in game that we were returning… or how long the queue times were.
Edit: Plus the cross platform issue which also would be better for Discord.
So what server did you use, did you use the Diablo 4 Discord server?
We had a voice channel from a previous clan from Diablo Immortal (that’s being repurposed for D4). It was already live, so that did make hopping onto that a lot easier for sure.
Thanks for your answer, I know about Battle.net chat & sometimes I use it (also using Skype with serveral friends).
But in the very case of the cross platform beta player, we had no other way than using Skype, given he didn’t had Battle.net client on his console… we’ll see what the final release will offer for cross platform (fully in-game integration would be the coolest and most convival way probably).
The thought of voice chat in an ARPG with a fan base that looks like… Well… Have you seen these forums?
No-freakin’-thanks.
I don’t need some basement dweller or 12 year old screaming racist nonsense at me while they REEEEEE over some dumb perceived slight against them.
Well, to each their own. Usually when I get someone in voice chat that’s speaking that way I just drop them and find a different chat room.
Well, funny you say that. I have never used it for grouping with strangers, but it sure nice while grouping with friends and or family.
Eh. I have a Discord, the people I plan to play with are already on my (teensy tiny) server.
After careful thought and encouragement that’s probably what I’ll do.
You are trying to communicate with people in an action game where critical combat moments get resolved under 0,20 milliseconds…?
No I was trying to party up with some friends but we couldn’t get the chat to work, I’ll use Discord next time. Little did we know at the time is that Blizzard said they were having some issues with it and it might not work for some people.
First thing i do in any game is disable voice chat with random people.
