So Blizz is stretching the plot like it’s a tv show now? I guess it’s similar to announcing 3 WoW expansions at once.
All we pretty much achieved in entire act is save Neyrelle but instead of defeating Mephisto he actually just got reborn. Wasn’t that a second cliffhanger with the same character like at the end of base game? It started nicely but more I played more boring and prolonged it felt.
Reaper of Souls campaign was far longer than what I saw in VoH the expansion just fell short no new worthwhile endgame at all and citadel don’t count. it’s wasted development resources thats what it is. Legend has it that we will get endgame in Diablo 5 in 2035
The name of the exp made it clear for me that we wont kill Mephisto this time but not even seeing his real form made me so mad im not even sure at this point if ill ever buy another blizz product.
Also how things are currently going im not even sure if we will ever get the next expansion. Its not like they didnt cancel out games and expasions before.
I hope that with part 2 they will add at least 20 monster families with 4 per family. It’s still a ridiculous amount considering the competition . It gathers nausea from looking at these repetitive mobs in the game.
There’s an obvious hole in the Nahantu map in the upper right corner. Like a whole missing zone. There’s also lots and lots of tie-ins thru the VoH vignette (it’s not a fully story, more like a teaser) about knights being involved. My guess is sometime around S8 we’re going to get a new class (knight, paladin, crusader archtype) and zone available in the cash shop for $19.99 to let them milk a bit more cash from this xpac cow.
There’s also the possibility of going north to Xian… isn’t that where the Zakarum faith started with Akarat? There IS potential in the lore to save this franchise. But they’ll probably go the quick and easy route of milking it for every dime while letting it die.
They did say “going forward, future seasons will build off the events of VoH,” so that definitely sounds like seasonal questlines will be related but it may end up being like a side-story or “impact” narrative to VoH’s plot, instead of a proper continuation. Could be things like the hollow-infestation expands and shows up in other areas, or the whole Mephisto possessing Akarat’s body, will start to have an impact in the world/Nahantu.
Either way though, if the seasonal questlines are more closely related to VoH’s ending, that will be 10x better than the previous questlines, like in S1, S2, and S3, that felt super isolated and disconnected from everything.
All Diablo stories follow the same formula anyway.
MC steps in to fix stuff because everyone else is corrupt and/or inept.
Queue in tragic stories of the participants.
One of important chars is a traitor one way or another
MC succeeds anyway and has the option of beating the evil thing that nobody dared to imagine
Some char is either influenced or for some reason decides to mess with MC thus pretty much undoing everything MC spent time fighting for in the above steps
But there is still hope… If MC goes somewhere else to start the same process again.
Belial was mentored by Mephisto. Have him come back. Add another boss to the rotation. He seemed a lot stronger than Duriel and Andarial maybe make us gain summoning materials from them to summon him.
I think I already have all the expansions figured out, hear me out:
Expansion 2. We chase after Mephisto. Mephisto finds and frees Diablo. Belial or Azmodan are left behind as the final boss.
Expansion 3. Mephisto and Diablo find and free Baal. Mephisto escapes into hell, Diablo makes like a tree while Baal stays behind to fight us as the final boss.
Expansion 4. We chase Mephisto into hell and find him as the final boss.
Expansion 5. We start hunting down Diablo and fight him as the final boss of the expansion and the last boss to Diablo 4. Belial or Azmodan, whoever wasn’t the final boss of expansion 2 will be a side boss here.
