Video Card being disabled (Fix did not work)

Radeon RX 5500 XT.

Having an issue that only happens in D4, and only began in the last 2 days:

Problem began last night, after playing since early launch with zero issues. After roughly 8 hours of stable play, I entered the Hawezar area, and within minutes I had a black screen. Restarted, and found out that my video card had been disabled. Enabled card logged in, and within 3 minutes had a black screen/disable again. Repeated process, ported to Dry Steppes and played another hour with Zero issues.

This morning, double checked drivers, and updated just to be sure, turned windows update off just in case, open system performance monitor, logged on to D4. Ported to Vyeresz in Hawezar, stood in town doing nothing, watched memory usage creep from 69% to 95% (memory leak?) over period of several minutes, and black screen, (I could hear game still running) , with card disabled. Restarted, enabled card, logged into D4, and repeated with the same outcome.

As mentioned I have played since early launch for many 8 hour session. No PSU issues, no GPU heat issues, No CPU heat issues. One day everything is smooth as silk, now the game is laggy, rubber banding constantly, and now something about D4 is causing (windows I assume) my card to be disabled. Every other game I play is fine, zero issues.

Update 10:20am 6/21: Logged in, and crashed in less than 30 seconds. Perused the forums, lowered foreground FPS to 50 from 150 per a player recommendation. Have been running stable for 30 minutes…

Fingers Crossed.

Second Update 10:38am 6/21: Video crashed again, refreshed everything, and now I instantly crash logging in from character select. After weeks of basically flawless play, I am sidelined until the devs can be bothered to let us know what the F is up.

I wanted to take a second and post the steps I took to greatly improve this issue. So far since doing these things, I have had 1 black screen.

⦁ Restart Computer

⦁ In windows 11, disable automatic driver install follow these steps.

Click Start menu, type change device installation settings, click Change device installation settings in the search results to open the Device installation settings window.

Select the No (your device might not work as expected) option and click the Save Changes button. This will stop Windows 11 from automatically updating drivers.

To enable automatic driver updates in Windows 11 again, you can access the Device installation settings window again and select the Yes (recommended) option.

⦁ For AMD/Raytheon product search/google for AMD cleanup utility, this should give you the link. Down load and use the program. (This will remove all AMD drivers and programs from your system, but wont effect your hardware). Run in safe mode as suggested

⦁ Restart computer

⦁ Goto AMD site and use auto-detect and install tool. Download and run, it will run and bring you to your driver select. There are 2 drop down menus you will want to use.

On the right will be the driver versions, choose the recommended Adrenalin version. Now open the “additional options” drop down, choose the driver only option.
This will not load any of the AMD bloatware.

⦁ Restart computer

⦁ enjoy game.

Note: This may effect your audio. It made my monitor my primary speaker, instead of my head set. If this happens open your device manager, find Sound, video, and game controllers. click on it. Find your hardware (HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless for me) click t open, goto driver tab, disable sevice, then enable sevice. You should be good.

I hope this helps you get back into the game. While not 100%, it has allowed me to get about 5 hours of play w/o a crash.

=====================================================================

Well that lasted a day, now I am crashing within minutes of loggin on.

Hopefully someone from Blizz can use this data.
