Vessel of Hatred purchase not recognized

I have Diablo IV through Xbox Game Pass since I don’t use Steam. I regularly played on either Xbox Series X and PC last season. I will play on PC when family is using the TV.

I preordered Vessel of Hatred on Xbox Store on the console. It did not say anywhere that this purchase would only apply on console. Likewise when you see the purchase options in the Battle.net app on PC, it does not say anything about the purchase only applying on one platform.

Anyway so I bought Vessel of Hatred Xbox Store.

On console I can access Vessel of Hatred content fine. I made a new character and went to the new area, doing quests, etc. My wife gets home and so I needed to switch to PC to keep playing.

Yet now, on PC, I cannot access Vessel of Hatred content, and it acts like I didn’t buy it. On PC, I get a pop-up asking me to buy Vessel of Hatred, which I already bought. I can login to my character, but when I try to go to my quest marker (which is in the new area), it won’t let me cross the bridge into that new area – I just get a popup message in red text saying I don’t own Vessel of Hatred.

So I am making this bug report, since clearly if you are a Game Pass player, and you unlock Vessel of Hatred on PC or Xbox, it should carry over to either one, since the purchase screens don’t mention anything about the content being platform specific, and there’s no reason that players should anticipate that to be the case, considering it’s a cross-platform game and I’m playing through Xbox app on both platforms. Further,

Microsoft owns Blizzard.

From the FAQ on: Vessel of Hatred - Diablo IV

You will need to purchase Vessel of Hatred once per platform you want to play on. For example, to play on both Xbox and Battle.net you would need to get Vessel of Hatred on each of those platforms separately. You will not get additional rewards for multiple purchases. If you want to upgrade the edition you purchased, upgrades to Deluxe and Ultimate Editions will be available in-game.

Personally I think it should apply everywhere as it’s not uncommon for DLC to work across platforms that you own the game on but it’s working as expected for now.

No you shouldn’t need to do that, Blizzard have said it should carry over…

I’m in the same boat, pre-ordered on xbox… all the pre-order items worked fine on PC. There was no note that I cannot play on PC. I own D4 via a PC purchase.

If I have to buy per platform, does anyone know how to request a refund? As PC is my main platform.

I’m in the same boat, this is pretty silly. I hope that they fix this.

Same here. Bought on console before it released, can’t play on PC as it says I need to buy it. Seems like a bug. No other DLC’s do you have to pay for both PC and console if you are playing through Gamepass which I am doing.

I hope they will fix this problem. So sad to see it!

Hey there, I’m having the exact same issue. I bought the game on PC through my Xbox account, but I can only play it on PC, not on my Xbox. Can you help me out with this?

I pre ordered VoH ultimate on PC. I can access D4 on both PC and Xbox. I have gamepass Ultimate… My PC died mid Boss fight in D4 VoH Hardcore and I wanted to play while I wait to get the PC fixed… Nope can’t access VoH on Xbox and only can make chats in non VoH content my only option is to buy it again.

Blizzard, this feels incredibly crappy.

My Spiritborn is likely dead at having just hit 50 during the boss fight, but PC dead mid Boss fight on Hardcore = dead which… Had death potions existed or some other cheat death, my character might be alive.

I want to be able to play and being faced with having to purchase VoH again is adding salt to the wound.

I really hope this gets addressed.

I have the same problem. I own the DLC via xbox, and I can access the base game via game pass ult and I bought the best edition. SoI installed it on my PC through xbox app, but it will not allow me to download or utilize the DLC on PC via xbox app, but it allows me the base game. Interesting bug. Fix this asap. Should not need to buy twice for the same version.

DLC bought on xbox should still register as bought via the xbox app, because the base game sure does. DLC for Diablo 4 on xbox app is not registering as xbox version, but pc version. Silly to see my spirit born characters created and greyed all out. I even tried logging into an old character, grabbing my dlc cat mount, logging back in via xbox app installation just to see if it would help register that I owned it. I could utilize my cat dlc gift, but still no go on accessing my characters. I am going to have to say this does not seem intentional, and perhaps an oversight. It needs to be fixed.

I am having the same issue. I play mainly on PC but have been playing a lot on my TV and series X as well when no one is home. I also play a lot of my ROG Ally so that I can take my game on the road when we road trip. While on a couch session I went ahead and pre-ordered the expansion really early and now I am not able to access it on the Ally or the PC.

Also, oddly enough, at first I was not able to access the expansion via the Xbox either. I had to go in an manually add the content and download it and apply it within the xbox menus. At first, I thought perhaps that would be the issue with the PC as well, but I cannot find where these options are ont he PC or within battle.net.

I hope they fix this because now I am tied solely to my Xbox and family TV for playing this content. Which really limits my play time.

I bought the DLC on console in the in-game store, the store says I own it, and I can’t access ANY DLC content at all. I try to create a new character and it won’t let me access the spiritborn class. Complete waste of money

Same here, bought on the Xbox app (PC) and it now its showing as I down own the expac.

I have the same issue. It shows I own the dlc but I can’t play it on PC only on the xbox. This wasn’t an issue with the main game, why now with the DLC? WTF???

So I spoke to Blizzard support and they simply told me that they won’t do anything to rectify this.

I’ll try and speak to Xbox since Blizzard is falsely not honoring my PC purchase.
