After playing POE 2 i gotta say VoH is a good expansion it’s actually a solid game. I take back the earlier bad judgements on the expansion after replaying it again. They need to fix progression allthough which is broken in season 6 especially from torment 2 to torment 3 and 4. And I hope they have Mephisto for next expansion
d4 will pretty much always be in a state of something being in the need for improvement, which is fine i think. The game evolves.
as for poe2, i enjoy it, it has huge problems tho.
Maybe let it be a lesson for you in the future. There is no point in jumping onto Hate, or Hype-trains

I was fine with the expansion. I look forward to continuing the story.
Though I wonder if it’ll be a Free part 2 of the first expansion or will we have to pa for that.
IMO, I dare say if D 4 wants people to be willing to play the expansion it’d need to be free as the Part 2, and not pay another…what was it?? Well what ever the price of VoH was.
i think youll be disappointed with that expectation. you can be pretty much 99.99% sure that the next expansion will be 40 bucks as well, along with the options for deluxe versions that include cosmetics. (tho, it should also be pointed out for future decisions that expansions do tend to get on sale if a holiday is close. So if one doesnt want to spend 40 bucks, but 30ish, its very well worth to wait.)
I mean, nothing wrong with hoping for it, but id say lets stay realistic
If it was a solid expansion you wouldn’t have seen such an exodus of players early in S6 after a new expansion and more at the release of the other game.
Blizzards past dick moves on items and continued contentious systems (such as tempering) don’t lend itself to overall fun.
But guess solid is subjective because my rating currently gives D4 a solid 4 of 10.
Agreed on the first point, but POE2 has yet to have a significant impact on D4 population. S6 was functionally over by the time POE2 EA launched. It’s the lack of meaningful content, such as poor events and a recycled S7 theme, that’s failing to retain players.
When POE2 officially launches, and it’s league starts overlap closely with D4 season starts, we will see how one population impacts the other.
Agree with Nyurei. Why would anyone expect the Xpacs to be free? We already have free seasons with new content… OK, sometimes we have new content.
I played half the season without VoH. Honestly, I don’t think I was missing much. I am still enjoying the game and spending time playing so I don’t regret my purchase but it is not a “solid expansion.”
thats pretty fair. i mean, we all enjoy things differently (for me its a 6/10, with tendencies to a 7/10). However, its not correct to talk about an “exodus of players”, since we clearly dont know anything about these metrics.
Dont get me wrong, all is fair and good when it comes to personal judgments of diablo 4, just like it is with any other game. We dont have to “back up” our personal feelings with stuff we have no clue abou tho.
is poe2 a bad game now because we have seen quite some threads about people returning? Do we call that an exodus of the poe2 playerbase?
Their forums are pretty angry. Does that mean poe2 is dead?
you get me
you can see that there is no exodus in PoE2. Steam charts shows that there are still about 60% of people playing from peak on launch 1 month after release.
Meanwhile…
D4 VoH lost more then 60% of people in just 1 week on steam.
You cannot even excuse it with, nah its just a bad season next one will be better cause for a matter of fact S6 started with VoH which is a whole effin major addon.
It’s embarrassing.
People will point to the problems of any one indicator, whether that’s steam numbers, twitch viewership, participation in this forum, etc. However, they all point to the same general idea.
VoH is by far the worst expansion in Diablo series. BY FAR.
D4 is not competitive at all, even compared to PoE EA.
D4 suffered the same fate as its predecessor d3, being a game for 10 hours once a year, otherwise it just won’t be interesting to play it.
D4 = D3 Resurrected = trash ARPG = decent cookie clicker.
oh, we cant. since they also have their own launcher. It fits the same point. We keep discussing things we hardly have any metrics about.
but lets go with it? losing almost 50% of its playerbase on a fresh brand new game that was heavily hyped? that sounds like an exodus to me. Forums super unsatisfied as well. People openly posting they are returning? yea… poe2 dead bruh. abandon the ship while its sinking blah blah blah.
Pretty embarassing considering how many people were hyping the game here.
See? we can twist all these partial metrics to fit whatever kind of narrative.
In the end it boils down to: if you dont need others to support your opinion, you just play what you like. Sadly, this seems to be a rarity trait here.
i get it, all im saying is that we in no case have accurate informations. Neither do we need them, as we arent shareholders.
Shareholders invest money, players invest time. Players are less likely to invest time into a game they feel is dying.
I’m not saying the game is dying, by any means. Seasonal games such as this have their ebbs and flows and there are plenty of examples of a new content patch bringing players back. On the other hand, I’m not going to pretend the game is all sunshine and roses. First major patch after the first expansion should be a time of great interest, but we are very clearly not seeing that right now.
man let’s be honest D4 is pretty dead.
I do not know what kind of indirect evidence they need to understand this or agree with it, most likely, they will never agree with this, just like d3 fanboys who believed that millions played d3 every season, but for now, if we use logic for everyone who is able to build more than 1 logical chain in their head, it is quite obvious that VoH hit d4 positions quite hard, and the success of poe finished it off even more.
Therefore, do not hesitate to call a spade a spade, at the moment d4 is dead, what can save it, I do not know, but definitely not the faded s7.
man let’s be honest you didn’t read past the first sentence.
which doesnt impact us. We can go back and forth about the little parts of a metric we have.
People should stop to overcomplicate their decision making.
You can at any point decide to not invest further time into a game. There is no harm done. (waiting for the first person to reply: “but i WANT to LOVE d4” - you cant force ourself to love something. neither can we force the devs to build the game towards what every single player wants.)
now dont get me wrong, im not going at you - and i think you know that. But this back and forth bickering about little parts of certain metrics becomes so ridiculous. People are at times pretending like they are doing a life changing decision. Clearly, d4 must be doing pretty nicely when even the people who claim to dislike it, think about it night and day. =P
Leave the metrics to the people who have access to them. We as players arent doing life changing decisions by playing, or not playing. Spend time on what you enjoy.
Im playing Palworld right now for that matter - i somehow got into the mood again
So yea, its pretty obviously that Palworlds update killed poe2.
VOH is the worst expansion in ANY Diablo game through history
It shows, once again, that D4 Devs are MMO Developers that listen too much to streamers
It didnt help that S6 is quite possibly D4 worst Season too, competing only with S3
I give it a 6/10. Love the new class and zones, but story was too short, there was no new repeatable boss , I hate companions and resources were wasted on a forced grouping dungeon that soloers will never participate in. Huge miss.
Well first,
It’s not a brand new game, it is a closed beta of a Free to play game that asks for 30 bucks to get Early access. Yet it still sold a huge amount of copies.
second,
its ,60% active player(not 50) after a month is a huge success. Most games fall much faster as you do not need a month to play through a game. You also don’t need a month to play through PoE2 campaign. So a lot of people are either twinking a lot or they grind the endgame a lot. You know, the one thing D4 is unable to achieve…
No it is not.
You can twist what you want but i stick to the facts.
I wasn’t talking about opinions i was refering to real numbers everyone can check out themself.
The only opinion i offered was that i said D4 state is embaressing. Cause VoH lost more then half it’s playerbase on steam in just 1 week. That is probably the most unsuccsesfull Diablo Addon in history, by a longshot. So i think embaressing is a fitting word. But others would fit as well. Like, failure, dissapointment, sad and a few more.
