ever since the patch 2.1.1 from yesterday i had severe lag, frame stuttering and mostly severe frame drops that can last from a few milliseconds to a full second. my other major issue is long load times between instances, what used to take maybe 15-20 seconds is now in upwards of several minutes. i know it’s not my hardware, because it was working fine a few days before the patch, ive also been monitoring temps and usage. I will also say i did have the gray screen launch bug earlier and I found a work around (the sl…pcl.dll_backup one) but it had since been resolved and i was able to play the new season with no issues. its just pretty frustrating at this point. if anyone has the same issue please reply i would like to think im not crazy, and if anyone was able to find a fix and shares that would be awesome
Just wanted to say how my evening went:
- Upgraded my nVidia driver from 565.90 to 566.03
- Restarted the PC
- Ran my Furmark test 4 times to compare performance to the previous tests
- Started Battlenet and updated the game for the patch that dropped today
- Started Diablo IV and played for an hour
- During that hour was seeing a couple of latency spikes, but nothing game breaking
- Switched to my backup internet (from Starlink to Brightspeed)
- No more latency spikes
- Tested my Starlink later, found it was fluctuating due to other property traffic - And its probably due for a full network restart, some devices have been operating for over 30 consecutive days without a power cycle
Game played perfectly fine. Again. On a different driver. Again. (I have been updating the driver every day now for over a week and playing for 1-3 hours each day on each driver change)
While I get no one wants to think their hardware is an issue, and yours might be fine, I will put forth this:
Lag can happen to anyone, at any time. Even me tonight. In my case, it was one of my ISP connections, or even possibly my network. In your case it could be your network glitching, your ISP having a bad day, or any other node between you and the servers. It is frustrating to have issues, and I completely understand it, believe it or not.
Naturally, you want someone to share their bad connection story to make you feel vindicated in posting, but frankly not everyone is having issues. And that kinda sucks too.
Have you tried any suggestions by others or myself in the tech threads?
