I just hit 70, so moved onto World Teir 4. When I entered I was doing just ok. Able to kill stuff, but not all that fast. I found a new weapon, and upgraded it 5 times. It now feels like I’m almost back on World Teir 3, with how fast the mobs die.
This is from a whirlwind barb perspective, at level 70. Upgrading the weapon, while leveling, was well worth the price. If you watch a video where they say not to, this is true for a lot of your items. But, for your key items, fully upgrade them if you can. And, you’ll have a lot more fun.
Always upgrade your gear 2 levels, the cost is low and you don’t waste high end mats and you get some stats in return, a win win.
at i power 550-600 WT3 you can make it +4 if you have the mats. Then at i power 750-840 WT4, you can then once again can upgrade your ancestral gear. from this point it’s min/maxing if you get the best item then max out the upgrade level. Sockets for gems same thing/levels, enchantments same as well.
You did 2 things wrong here.
You’re level 70 and you upgraded it to the max… go 4 times at best until you’re closer to 85-90.
2nd thing you did wrong is you upgraded the wrong weapon if your damage plummeted.
I wouldn’t upgrade them much before level 50 or so when you are replacing them often but I’m 81 now and upgrade most of my stuff to level 5. You can get 4 points in abilities (3 points in passive nodes). Makes a big difference. The final upgrade costs forgotten souls though so make sure the stats are worth it. I think I have one piece that I didn’t bother upgrading because it was just a few percentage points and nothing exciting.
I am not understanding the logic here. Is it because the materials will be so rare that one can only be selective in what they can upgrade? Because that certainly is not the case. If you find a decent item, enchant it, then upgrade it, then thrown on the aspect and odds are that item will last a long time before finding anything of an upgrade.
Disagree. Why ? If you have many forgoten souls like i do, then just upgrade it. If you do helltides you have plenty anyways. On lvl 70 you can upgrade 5 times like everything.
I think they buffed helltide anyway ,coz they now drop a lot more from those rare monsters and chests gives some as well. I have so many now that i dont know what to do with em. Like first week i rarely found some, then some ppl complained, cryed and and bam now you have enough. Im counting on price reduction of upgrades soon, coz ppl will cry hard about the costs - 1st is OK, but every thing after is super expensive I like it , even tho i found this godly yellow amulet and i cant roll my needed stat damn im on 3mil on reroll - sold wasted too much money on it
Because they’re only level 70, and enchanting end game items takes a LOT of them at a time.
To each their own I guess, but upgrading to 5 star at level 70 is simply a waste since a better item will drop in 5 minutes.

I have some items on current lvl74 char since lvl 65fe. and we talking about several days of progress, not everyone is running some exp super fast runs, some of us enjoy the game you dont swap your items THAT offen. I checked ingame one 98 barb(dont inspect them offen) and level range of his items were from 68-94 …
how am i suppose to take em oh lord ? should i convert your 5 minutes when better item will drop to what ? 1 hour ? 1 day ? Coz its complete bs and you know it Upgrading to lvl 5 which cost 2fs and in weapon 3fs is nothing and since you dont swap weapon every 5mins not even every 2h you should upgrade it ofc.
