I know some people blow off or forget regular driver updates;
Just an FYI, for the server slam the game simply would not launch with video drivers that were too far out-dated, which isn’t exactly a fast process to update at least for nvidia drivers.
Remember to do this before launch so you don’t sit there angry for 5-10 min unable to play (or get into queue).
the open beta my pc got extremely hot and the fans went crazy. there was an update to nvidia drivers after that beta which I did then the server slam my PC was perfectly fine.
I just saw thou there is yet another nvidia update again. Not sure if I wanna update it right now. I think i’m gonna see if my PC remains fine.
/shrug maybe I’m not computer expert. I updated drivers and the next beta it was fine and didn’t overheat. Coulda been the drivers or maybe blizz optimize the game. Or maybe the combination of the 2. All I know is the open beta my PC actually got so hot one time it shut off, the server slam it stood cool.
I don’t think that’s quite true, because my drivers were 3 months old before I installed the Diablo 4 drivers today. But, yes, I had intended as everyone should, to install the game ready drivers prior to release.
Sure, I’m making that up for no apparent reason just for fun.
I didn’t say the game wouldn’t run if you don’t have the absolute most recent up to date drivers, but on my computer they were old enough that it wouldn’t start the game until I updated them. I don’t keep a log (I guess you do?) so I couldn’t say how old they were, maybe 6 months who knows; but I’m sure there are other people out there who have let it go longer than I did so I was putting out an FYI.
I make a lot of posts mocking trolls and such, but you don’t always need to be so desperate to be contrarian against simple useful information or reminders.
And I was just taking that useful information, and making sure they got amended information. Not every driver update is necessarily a good update. If you tell people they absolutely need the newest driver or they can’t play, that’s simply not true. Although they should indeed try the newest.
Sounds like you should monitor and stress test your PC. Figure out what is heating up so much to cause a shut down. Ambient room temp should be considered as well. I’m going to assume you do not know much about your PC, based off what you said above.
Could be something as simple as dusting, as others have said, or slightly lowering cpu voltage.
A lot of motherboards run way high voltage out of the box, especially if you automate an OC.
