same me in pc,super lag…
Same here.
GPU runs at 100%. Game is unplayable.
Experiencing the same problem under Win 11 and Linux. Running the Battle.net version.
My PC:
Gigabyte X670 Gaming X AX V2
Ryzen 7 7800X3D water cooled
64 GB DDR5-5200
GeForce RTX 4080
Have played previous seasons without issues. GPU usage has been around 60%. Because I am not alone with this and the problem is the same under Windows and Linux, I don’t think it’s a problem with the operating system or drivers.
Dc after every tp, and crash in dungeon. before update 1.5.1 game was great.
thank u for the nice season guys
I get massive freezes or even crashes whenever I try to open any kind of UI(inventory, paragon board, merchant etc) shortly after teleporting.
I’m on Win10, and the problem described/solved started happening after DIV 1.5.1 patch update.
I was getting few freezes here and there, and then I started getting a “Data Retrieval Error” window popping up every time I entered the game (character select worked fine).
I didn’t have the Ultra Texture pack installed, so I did that. Still was getting the error, though. Scan and repair didn’t find any problems.
Then I removed all the Diablo IV and Battle Net entries from Windows Firewall:
just type “Windows Firewall” in your Windows search box and delete all ingoing and outgoing (inbound/outbound I believe) entries of Battle Net and DIV (do that while B Net and DIV are closed, of course).
I restarted the game, and while it started loading it popped a Window if I allow DIV Internet access, usually the default option is OK, press OK/Accept and after that I managed to play without connectivity issues.
Hope it helps someone else.
I wiped my OS HDD, reinstalled windows and redownloaded D4.
No change.
D4 can’t stop crashing whenever I speak to an NPC. Its repeatable.
I speak to the Seasonal quest giver in Zarb, or I speak to a class ability related NPC, and D4 crashes my computer to a black screen. I have to reset the PC. I’ve deleted and reinstalled D4, rolled back my video drivers two generations… seriously doubt I’ll finish the season.
Mine just freezes trying to go into a seasonal char in the game, so it is basiclly wasted money and time on lvling the toon
Time to file a complaint against blizzard and demand a refund of the game.
It is only getting worse, not better. I tried the following:
- Delete all gamefiles and local data
- Repair files
- Reinstall latest drivers
- Install older video drivers
- Place Diablo IV folder in anti-virus exclusions
- Disable some game-options (I already had cross platform coms disabled)
- Remove firewall rules for Diablo
- Disable firewall alltogether
- Yell at the computer
When the first troubles occured, I could play about 20 minutes as long as I did not TP anywhere. Later the game crashed as soon as I selected the toon. Yesterday a pop-up voor a goblin run or so appeared and caused a crash. Now the crash happens when starting the game (i.e. before character selection).
I am now forced to spend time with my kids
same here, almost fried my PC and now I gotta replace my PSU at the very least.
Another hot fix that fixed nothing. I just updated the game, go to the Pit and crash. Start the game again and in 5 mins or so, another crash. At this point it looks like some sort of memory leak that Windows just shuts down, ain’t got proof but ain’t got doubts
yep same thing that happened to me. before the S5 patch I never had to touch my VRAM settings. then all of the sudden the patch hits and boom, D4 crashes and then my PC bsod’s
I’ve noticed that holding down left mouse while opening the map seems to cause the crash to happen more frequently, but it still doesn’t happen every single time. I have crashed 5-6 times in 15 minutes doing this, though.
It is insane how this post hasnt recieved a single blue response.
I got the issue straight after patch.
it resolved itself for one night by deleting appdata, restart and then repair files. However it returned today.
Literllaly an game breaking bug. I work in the software industry, if this happened at our company it would be hotfixed the same day.
I worked my way through the Fenris-log in de D4 folder and there is a line in the language of my OS (i.e. not in English) stating that a file that already exists can not be created.
Looking in the D4 folder I found two files whith a very recent creation date. When I remove these files before starting Battlenet and D4, I can play though crashes on teleport still do occure often. The files are then created at startup so I have to delete them before every session.
The files are:
diablo IV\Data\data\shmem
diablo IV\Data\residency\shmem
I agree with you. I have run the scan and repair tool several times and nothing turned up. I have found that I can use the waypoints without any trouble (so far). If that changes, I will have to wait until patch 2.0 in the misguided hope that the matter has been fixed.
I was able to play it after some tweaking. But then it all started back up and I am entirely unable to play the game. I have not been able to play since Thursday. Usually what happens is I choose a character and hit enter and the game just turns black…or, I can get into the game for just a moment, literally just one moment, and the game crashes.
I was really enjoying D4, but since I cannot even play it I am going to have to just put the game down. I am no tech expert, but I was able to get PoE to run on my machine and that game is known for being difficult, so if my pc can run PoE but has a heart attack when I touch D4 then I don’t know what to do.
It’s a shame, D4 would have had me back if only I could reliably play it .
I think I found a solution to this dread. Funny thing is that I put down D4 and got Hogwarts Legacy at a 70% discount on Steam lol. If you don’t want to read the whole story, jump to the end.
When you play HL for the first time, it’s got to run shaders and some one time pre-game stuff. I was getting a BSOD every single time I started the game (4-5 times) and I’m like “WTF is happening to this PC, did I blow up something?”. I started to Google what to do and tried a couple of things: memory/CPU diagnostics, updating drivers, etc. I was getting desperate until I found out that my BIOS was very outdated (almost a year), so I updated it and now HL runs good. And then it hit me, so I closed HL and opened D4 again.
So far, updating my BIOS seems to have fixed the crashes on D4!!! I haven’t got any crashes nor lag for 2hrs straight. I’m running pit with my lightning spear sorc and that build is graphically heavy, but so far no issues. I feel like an idiot now for not having my BIOS updated.
I have an ASUS ROG STRIX Z790-A WIFI D4 motherboard. I had to download AI Suite 3 and it did the work for me. Other manufacturers have apps as well, I have a Lenovo laptop and the app they have keeps that BIOS updated as well. I guess I took the update for granted on my gaming rig.
Thanks for the suggestion, @AndreyCR. Will definitely give this a go, as I am still crashing after the v.1.5.2 update.
UPDATE:
BIOS is not out of date, so this isn’t an issue on my end. Did you update from a support tool, device manager, or do a manual install from a flash drive?
Same Problem: every patch update massive freezes up or even crashes and black screen of death. Patch 1.5.2 add more problem. I worried about Vessel of hated expansion, Blizzard no beta more problem more crashes…
