Unique / Uber Unique Redemption Tokens

Given players may want to experience or experiment with builds that require a specific (uber) unique, does it make sense to have redeemable tokens drop rather than a random (uber) unique item?

For example, instead of having Zyr or Duriel drop the same unique that a player doesn’t need 4 times, the boss could drop a Zyr- or Duriel-specific token that can be redeemed at a special vendor for the specific unique item the player wants for a new build. The purchasable uniques can be tied to the boss (or world drop) token the player receives, so players would still need to kill a specific boss to get a specific unique item.

Likewise, uber unique tokens can still be a rare drop from Duriel to maintain their scarcity, but players won’t have to hope the right uber unique item drops and be even more disappointed / annoyed when it doesn’t. I also agree with the general player sentiment that the likelihood of an uber unique (or token) dropping should increase the longer a player farms without success, but understand a dynamic system like this may be harder to implement without introducing other bugs.

Just my thought on how to improve the endgame drop system, make players more likely to experiment / push harder endgame challenges, and inject more consistent dopamine rushes into players so they stick with the game longer.

No I disagree. there a lot of way’s to improve end game progression. new dungeons, world bosses, new missions, new legendary effects. hell, reintroduce kanai’s cube, and rune words. they could make very rare sets that improve skills generally and not specifically. let’s 3 sets for each class.ie, fire, frost, shock. - werewolf, bear, elements. - berserk, crit dmg, physical. let players pick a path and use the abilities they prefer while not capping there power.

I don’t disagree. My goal is to offer a solution to a current paint point with randomized unique item grinding, which is hopefully easier to implement than reworking game systems.

NO clue on why you disagree that’s a awesome idea to have tokens instead of the crappy 50th neck item!

Add to that, that for Duriel, if you collected say 50 or 100 rare unique Duriel tokens, these could be used to buy one uber unique item, thus addressing peoples issues with drop rate.

That is a brilliant idea. Make the drops for Uber Unique tokens random still, but give people a chance to redeem a supply of normal Uniques token for one Uber Unique token. Lucky people can still get lucky, but you know if you game enough then you will definitely get an Uber Unique.

Two ways to get the dopamine rush, and people know if they grind enough they will definitely get to advance their endgame.
