Unique items rework - What will happen to my already existing uniques? - We demand answers from Blizzard!

At start of season 4 basically all items on Eternal Realm that were found in Season 1, 2 and 3 have become useless legacy items, compared to the new kind of items of Season 4. Players on Eternal Realm got hit hard by that, because they thought what they collect there would be precious “eternally”, like the name “Eternal Realm” somehow promises. So like some other players I used Season 4 to collect as much good uniques with Greater Affixes for my chars as possible. Because I thought “Now Blizzard won’t make these items useless in the foreseeable future.” But now we are learning that “all” unique items will get a rework. Some unique items will get a few completely different affixes.

Because of that I want to ask Blizzard if they will do it again, only one season later, if they will mark all unique items collected on Eternal Realm as legacy items and therefore useless compared to the stronger reworked unique items.

Will Tibaults Will get a rework? (as example)

If there will be such a rework, will my 4GA Tibaults Will be changed/buffed automatically into the new reworked version?

Or will my 4GA Tibaults Will not be changed at all and marked as “legacy item” essentially making it completely useless, if the new reworked Tibaults Will will be much better.

What will happen to already existing unique items in general?

Will ALL already existing unique items become marked as “legacy item” and therefore made useless?

Does it make even sense to farm uniques now up to the end of season 4 if those unique items will become useless in about 2 weeks when season 5 starts?

Blizzard, these are such IMPORTANT questions, that I demand an answer from you!

Many people have invested MUCH, MUCH time to farm and get the unique items they have now, especially the ones with Greater Affixes! Will all these items be flushed down the toilet by marking them as legacy items on Eternal Realm, again, only one season after the introduction of the new kind of items of season 4 with the itemization changes?

Also, from season 3 to season 4, ALL items that players farmed and got up to season 3 were already made useless by marking them as legacy items. If that will happen again from season 4 to season 5 with all unique items, players will be pissed for a reason.

I personally think that Blizzard should find a way to offer players the new version for their old unique items, meaning players can decide if they want to get the new version instead of a legacy item. So, Blizzard, please give players the choice regarding what shall happen with their already existing unique items in season 4.

For example: It would be fair that when someone already has a 4GA unique item, that he can chose to get the 4GA unique item in its new version. Otherwise players gotta be pissed and rightfully so!

Historically when they have improved items it hasn’t been retroactive, and people had to farm new ones. Nerfs are usually retroactive. Not exactly fair, but that’s what I expect.

I am not interested in what Blizzard has done historically, but what Blizzard will do now concretely in Season 5 with unique items that already exist now in season 4.

I understand your sentiments but honestly be prepared to get the middle finger as that what blizzard usually do to every player in every franchise they have

You should expect that they do things the way they have in the past. Your lack of interest doesn’t change that they do things certain ways for a reason and will likely continue to do so.

I don’t want to guess what they will do. I want to KNOW what they will do with already existing unique items.

I don’t see any reason why Blizzard can’t give us this information now, only 2 weeks before start of season 5.

They can release it, they just won’t. You’ll have to wait and see like the rest of us.

It depends on the change.

Changes to value range of the affix can be retroactive, but affixes replaced by other affixes won’t be retroactive.

For example when Melted Heart of Selig was improved in patch 1.3.0 all stats and Damage while Healthy were buffed to new values, but Core Skill damage remained on existing Hearts.

If we rely on history to predict the future, the regular affixes wont get the update. So your 4 GAs will stay as is. Only your bottom aspect on thr unique will get a retroactive update.

Its been like this since s0

Then we need to pressure Blizzard to give us this information as quickly as possible. We deserve to know.

Otherwise all of us who are farming uniques right now would waste their time for nothing.

I am presuming this is the case. If you’d like to avoid being excessively disappointed or unnecessarily angry, I recommend you do the same.

Will mercs be permanent or will they run away in group?

Will d4 players without the expansion play along side the expansion characters and still have season content?

Will there be any more save my aunt events in the expansion?

These are all the questions we must have answers to… I DEMAND IT NOW!

Just kidding. I just want to know when they are going to go back to work on d2 and when is this game going to get rebuilt from the ground up.

I’d love to see Diablo IV add a new merchant that could upgrade old uniques so players have the choice of keeping the old stats or upgrading to the new one

Your demands are irrelevant. Blizzard won’t hear them. Just play a different game for a couple weeks.

S3 to S4:
Trash all your items and farm new.

S4 to S5:
Trash all your uniques and farm new.

S5 to S6:
New level cap…new item level cap…
Trash everything and farm new.

I do not like that.
Even as eternal player, you have to refarm every season.
You knew, that you would change uniques.
To let them drop with 4 GA and don’t change them retroactively, so players feel the shaft again with S5, is unacceptable.
Personally I do not care much about, what was done historically.
This is D4 and many things nowadays to save this game, like loot reborn for example, are more dynamically.

Changing uniques retroactively, which is far less items and affixes than all legendaries and rares meant, is technically no biggie. There is no reason to punish the most passionate players again, those who spent the most effort, time and gold into collecting 4GA uniques.

Isn’t that the purpose of this game? To farm items? The idea of “wasting” time doing the things a video game is meant to do is bizarre.

Unless you plan to play on the Eternal realm, you’re starting over from zero with S5.

In the past items mains ability changes but affixes dont. So these items become legacy which I dont agree with but thats the way it goes.

Example shows where item A main ability is being changed to gain X while you do Z and its all stats affix becomes crit damage and it gains crit strike chance:

Your item before change:
Unique Item A
Attack Speed
All Stats
Lightning Damage
Lightning skills
Main Ability = Gain X while you do Y.

Your item after changes is now a legacy item:
Unique Item A
Attack Speed
All stats
Lightning Damage
Lightning skills
Main Ability = Gain X while you do Z. (Y has changed to Z)

This item as it drops now:
Unique Item A
Attack Speed
Crit Damage
Crit Strike
Lightning Damage
Lightning skills
Main Ability = Gain X while you do Z.

Of course I want to know what will happen at start of Season 5 with unique items that either are already on Eternal Realm or that will get transfered from Seasonal Realm to Eternal Realm. The fact that on Seasonal Realm everyone starts at zero with only the possibility to find the reworked uniques, is clear.

I plan to continue playing on Eternal Realm. That is why it matters to me. I played Season 4 on Eternal Realm, because there was barely any difference. And the seasonal content of Season 5 for Seasonal Realm does not look convincing at all.

And that is why I want to know what will happen with my unique items on Eternal Realm.

Yep. Understood. I also play on the Eternal Realm but not all that frequent, but it does happen. Hopefully Blizzard will let us know in the campfire chat, in about 2 weeks from now, how all that will work.
