Maybe someone can answer, if changes to unique items will be retroactive.
So if I have a 4GA unique, will it still have all stats maxxed out after S5 changes (buffs) or will it be a legacy unique (with a skull on it)?
yep my tyreals was upgraded
LOL…
Yes, they stated (but not in PTR) that uniques will be retroactively updated. The stats will change, and whichever stat slot had the GA will still have it, it might just be a different stat now.
However, it doesn’t really matter because you’re not going to see these changes in S4, and in S5 you’ll create a new character, so unless you’re playing Eternal it has no impact on you.
I may very well stick to Eternal. Season just for the Journey and goodies.
It took so much effort to make my Necro main, i dont want to redo it.
I might make whatever cookie cutter op master race class in Season, but definitly wont be a fun-build
Yes i play eternal.
And thank you very much for your response, Bumblebee ![]()
Where did they say the change would be retroactive?
Really hope they do it retroactively. I enjoy new content but not repetitive grinding whenever they change existing things. Yes, I play eternal a lot and it would suck if I have to re-farm. Given they can do so with nerfs, I can’t think of any reason why not for buffs.
You must have missed the stream yesterday, only the aspect of the unique will be updated, not the affix stats. You’ll have to farm the new uniques if you want them with the new stats.
Would they just reroll you a new version of the unique? If not, how would they transfer the rolls you had to a new item that has different affixes on it? They would have to write custom code for every single unique just to do this transfer. And then people would complain about it not happening for S0-3 uniques too. And even then people would complain because some of the changes would cause builds to be weaker since they lean into one theme of the unique and you might have been using it for a different reason.
Thanks. Quick follow-up question: How about uber/mythic uniques, then? Those always have perfect rolls. Will I need to farm/craft new ones of those as well? Thanks! Also, does anyone have the time stamp in the video when they mention this issue?
I think this is wrong. They stated in campfire yesterday that for uniques only the unique affix will be changed retroactively. So, for example you’re fists of fate should still have 4 lucky hit affixes, rather than attack speed and + lucky hit chance. I can’t imagine why the greater affixes would be removed if those affixes aren’t changing.
The GAs are not removed.
Yes. If you want the new stats, you need to farm them again.
I saw nothing saying that uber unique would retroactively change. The power would change but the stats would not so your going to have to farm the new uber unique if you want the changes.
They clarified their original statement during Q&A.
In a previous campfire they said uniques will be retroactively updated.
What they meant was that the “unique power” on them will change to the new version of that power on existing uniques. But the items themselves will NOT be updated to the new affixes.
My original statement was not incorrect, they just hadn’t made this difference clear at the time.
And it makes sense, because people will complain that their existing item has changed and they wanted to keep it (as we’ve already seen), and they’d argue that the GA was removed or applied to the wrong stat (for instance with a crit GA in 3rd affix slot, but now moved to 2nd slot and is no longer GA etc…).
They can’t realistically upgrade all of the items, and get it right. Mythics they could in theory, but they’d have the same issue with GA and MW. The only difference is that the stats are fixed on Mythics so you wouldn’t get people complaining that they had max crit roll and now it’s min crit roll etc…
Do you have a link & time stamp?
Nope. I don’t take notes and keep links for this kind of thing. I just remember them saying it a month or two ago when I watched it.
Either way, it’s irrelevant. They clarified it in this campfire during Q&A. You can get to it on youtube, twitch, x, or the official site and just go to the end and watch the Q&A.
It’s not irrelevant, how else can I prove that you were wrong?
They may not be able to fully update the old to new due to “how things operate under the hood” but there certainly are workarounds… reducing shards to re roll, some type of exchange… but odds are it’s just the middle finger and a slap on the fanny saying keep playing to make numbers better for investors
Why do you need to do that would be my question? What benefit do you get from it?
If you were to find something that somehow proved me wrong, then whoops, maybe i misunderstood them.
It’s really not a big deal and i couldn’t care. Someone asked a question, i answered with the knowledge i obtained by watching their stream, and now you seem to be on some kind of vendetta to prove i was wrong about my statement even after i clarified the point based on new answers from Blizz.
I just don’t understand your mindset here.
