Anytime I try to use Town Portal, it acts like its going to send me to town and then I just appear where I was?

Check my post. We have the same issues. Your character is stuck in a certain region and can’t leave. Trying to walk to another area results in hitting an invisible wall, and attempting to town portal or waypoint travel just puts you right back where you already are. You’re likely locked out of dungeons, too.

yea same with me. I tried to leave game, but then it booted me. Now i am stuck in queue again.

Same thing happened to me but I think it was basically “we’re about to take the server down so you’re stuck where you are” The servers went down around 1PM PDT and won’t be up again until Friday. Some sort of system message that the servers were going down would’ve been nice.
I had the huge town portal delays last Friday night too, but they did seem to clear up with the queueing on Saturday. Friday night I used a town portal and was loading for at least 10+ minutes, so I went to bed.
This was last week, I just wanted to mention as it caught me off guard. (Also playing on PC)

Between not being able to access regions where I have quests, town portal not working and now fast travel portals not working; how are you to explore when the game wont let you? Bad form Blizzard
Happening to me right now on live.
I thought it was just a delayed disconnect at first, but no, gameplay is fine, guild chat works fine, relogging out and back in works fine, but I’m just permanently stuck without a town portal and invis barriers on just my druid.
The only thing I can think of is that it’s because I just got my lv 15 class quest, maybe it wants me to complete that first but there is absolutely no indication of this
Edit: I can’t use my stash either. It’s not the quest, it’s just completely broken my character
Also having this today on pc cant portal to town etc and cant access my storage chest.
Currently experiencing the same issue. Ran a nightmare dungeon and upon completiondropped couple of legs. wanted to go back to town as my storage was full but every time I try I land back where I was. Also every item just despawned, but the bubble and glyph stone are still there. really great especially when getting stuck in creative ways seems to be a feature in this game.
So, over 1 year later getting the same thing, again. "Just exit and enter the game again’ is not a fix.
UPDATE: OK found the problem, the game started a 2.51Gb download patch and wouldn’t allow me to portal, doh.
Same here. Looks like the game is next to unplayable while it updates. But silently fails. Rather than emit an informative message such as:
“Critical patch underway. Please exit the game and wait patiently.”
It’s been over a year since this has been reported numerous times. And still such a bad UX? Where can we open a PR for this?
The workaround is, truly, to just exit the game and let the client patch the game.
