I’ve got the same issue
I’ve experienced this as well with my sorceress, (and replicated bug again on another sorcerer when I was leveling, farming for a spark.) In the first load-out, I had saved wand + focus, then tried unsuccessfully to save over it with Staff later on. Then when I bought other load-outs, I was unable to save anything at all. It says in red lettering “Weapon appearance will not be applied due to type mismatch”. This message is entirely new this patch, as previously, it didn’t care what you overwrote anything with, it would just overwrite whatever was there. So it appears that someone tried to fix what wasn’t broke, and broke it.
Also can’t update existing or save new ensemble loadouts on my seasonal softcore Sorcerer, who had all ensemble slots unlocked before this update.
I also tested on my eternal realm Barbarian, who had not unlocked any ensemble slots, and everything worked as intended: I could save an ensemble in a blank slot, purchase a new slot and save a different ensemble, and overwrite the first slot with the new ensemble. So it seems like the problem is some combination of:
- Whether characters had unlocked and/or saved in slots before the update that broke ensemble functionality
- The class of the character
- Seasonal vs. eternal realm
Edit: I just tried on a brand-new Seasonal Hardcore Druid, and I can’t save an ensemble there, either (tried in the free first slot; and also bought a second slot and tried that).
Found a solution!
So i had the same problem. “Weapon appearance will not be applied due to type mismatch”
I had my transmog on the first slot, with SWORD AND FOCUS, but since my leveling is done, i use a STAFF now, so i cant save a new transmog over it.
The solution:
-Equip a sword and focus (easy from Obol if dont have them)
-Go to your wardrobe - items - and choose default look on both your main and off hand weapons - confirm
-Now equip your staff and you should be able to overwrite and/or save new ensembles
This worked for me, hope it will work for you too guys! Enjoy
@Grizzly Thanks for the heads-up. I have a Sorc on Seasonal, and could not save an Ensemble. So I swapped my staff for a sword / source, and the Source had a Cosmetic active. Cleared that, and was able to save. Seems Blizz needs to address this.
I have the same problem, thanks for the workaround.
It still a bug though…
This is at least being partly fixed in 1.5.2 (see patch notes):
Fixed an issue where saved Ensembles in the Wardrobe could malfunction when swapping between Ensembles with an Off-Hand and a Two-Handed weapon equipped.
@Grizzly Your answer should be published as a proper fix, cause its helped others and just fixed my issue. I havent been able to save ensembles since before the last major update, well before loot reborn or armour 2.0. Thanks a million, i can save ensembles again.
Giving this a bump, as this fix worked for me as well – seasonal sorc, had a 1H staff, couldn’t save. Swapped back to wand and focus (my first wardrobe build) and just like that, I was able to save again. Thanks very much, hopefully a proper fix will show up soon.
This is happening to me too. I had taken a break for a bit and came back. I see a staff item in my chest slot and boots in my hand slot. I cannot remove them or replace them. I am stuck looking broken and unable to update my look at all. When it broke, I accidentally clicked on my slot #1 ensemble and loaded it. Now it won’t allow me to overwrite it or delete items from the bad slot. This is super frustrating there is no clear fix for it.
Take your gear off and overwrite the ensamble nude and no weapons. This should clear things. I had an issue like this, and it was caused by a transmog mismatch with the items I was wearing. Taking the weapons off and overwrite cleared the saved transmog.
This method not works for my char…
