Unable to salvage or craft sigils

I am on world tier 3. I have done a couple nightmare dungeons. I should have gotten the quest to unlock the ability to salvage and craft sigils, right? They’re clogging up my consumables. I’m level 61, if that matters.

I am currently Level 60 on my seasonal character and cannot craft or salvage nightmare sigils. I am only receiving level 1 sigils. What can I do?

Keep doing level 1 sigils until a level 2 sigil drops, then do level 2 sigils till a level 3 drops. When you complete a level 3 NMD, it will unlock Sigil Crafting.

Unlocking Sigil Crafting

In order to unlock Sigil Crafting at the Occultist, you must first complete a Tier 3 Nightmare Dungeon. Follow these steps:

  1. First complete a Tier 1 Nightmare Dungeon, which you acquire through the Tree of Whispers in Nightmare Difficulty.
  2. As you kill monsters and progress through the Tier 1 Nightmare Dungeon, you are likely to find a Tier 2 Nightmare Sigil. If you do not, run any Tier 1 Nightmare Sigils you acquired in that dungeon to try again. You can also reliably acquire additional Tier 1 Sigils through the Tree of Whispers.
  3. Run a Tier 2 Nightmare Dungeon or Dungeons to acquire a Tier 3 Nightmare Sigil.
  4. Once you acquire a Tier 3 Nightmare Sigil, complete that Dungeon to unlock Sigil Crafting!

100% true - I thought i was bugged and I found a random post online that said you have to complete the following.

  1. Complete and enter T3
  2. Complete a Tree of whispers event - which will drop your first sigil
  3. Play NM dungeons until you get a Sigil Lvl 3
  4. Beat the Sigil Lvl 3 and it will unlock the quests.

I followed these steps and it worked.

Not sure if the Tree of Whispers is actually required, but I did it first anyhow.

You just need to complete at least a Tier 3 nightmare dungeon

I did tons of nightmares dungeons, it never drops any lvl 2 or higher sigil key. Never. I m level 56, World Tier 3. It seems to be related to the season, when i played with my regular first character before the season, never had this issue, after my first nightmare dungeon i already had a sigil lvl 2.

IT’s crazy what Blizzard has made with this new patch, it removes the entire fun of the game

Does teaming up work?

AFAIK: only one needs to use a sigil to start the NM dungeon.
Not sure if you can unlock it in a team. But at least you have a higher chance to get a higher sigil for your next run.

I read that yes, to be tested, just need to find someone to clean up a T3 Dungeon and the quest to cratf will be opened then

I have completed several tier 3 NMD’s and still not getting anything from the occultist. Need to salvage sigils and clear my chest

After running multiple tier 3’s a tier 5 dropped. Completed the tier 5 and got the quest for the sigils
