Unable to play your game due to crashing to desktop endlessly, forced to quit

It was nice while it lasted, unfortunately due to constant crashes to desktop after 2 months of trouble shooting, I have finally given up. I am unwilling to replace each component of my year old PC to see if its a hardware issue on my end as I doubt it as only D4 crashes and I have done extensive hardware error tests as well as stress tests.
I opened a ticket and they could not offer any help and suggested I post on the forums, I have posted a few times before this and sadly no one can assist in this issue
so its either quit the game or maybe one day you make your game more stable.
I will maybe try the game in a few months, but as soon as I have my first crash to destop I will quit the game for good.

You have a fun game, but its extremely unstable. Sadly I think those of us with these persistent and game breaking problems are probably under 1% of the player base and therefore technically not worth the money and time to help, Blizzard are probably better off pumping out more content with that time and money for the 99%. This is most likely the reality of large games companies now, so its suck it up or quit.

Your problem sounds similar to mine. I got this game a month ago. And in the last 2 weeks or so, the game unexpectantly crashes on me. I get a light blue screen with the message that stats: “Your computer unexpectantly encountered a problem. We’re collecting information and restart the computer.” I’m posting this just after encountering another random game crash and computer restart.

I don’t know what the problem is and it only happens when playing Diablo 4. During one of those crashes and restarts, I got a popup that suggested I check the game for corrupted files. So I did, and it came back, nothing wrong. I’ve checked for updates. Everything is updated.
My conclusion is that a software problem with the game.

Sorry, my reply doesn’t help fix your/our problem, but adding to your post in that maybe others have a better idea.

So after uninstalling the game, I happened to stumble across a reddit post about potential fixes that would not solve but massively reduce fenris errors.

They were quite a few but the most impactful fixes I found were:

  • Delete the “Blizzard Entertainment” folder in “ProgramData”, this is the cache folder for Battle.net. Making sure Battlent has been closed and Agent.exe has been ended through task manager if its still running.
  • Delete the “Diablo IV” folder in “My Documents”, this is the cache folder for Diablo 4.
  • Restarting my computer before playing

So if anyone is struggling with the same issues, this helped me… however the catch is you need to input a few graphics settings on login and change your sound volume each time due to the game cache having been delete.

This is not a “true fix” however, as it just prolongs the periods between fenris players from every 10mins to every 3-5 hours, with the rare crash after 10-30mins, if this happens I delete cache and restart PC then try again…

It all feels a bit non technical and just randomly trying random things… so honestly still unsure if anything is actually impacting it… its like F’ing reading Tea Leaves.
