Unable to Launch Game After Pre-Expansion Patch?

So. I pre-purchased the expansion. Restarted the Battle Net client. It downloaded a 3GB update. Once it was done, I clicked “Play” and Windows gave me a pop-up that it detected a 16-bit application and to ask the vendor for a 64-bit version.

I did a scan/repair. It did its thing and appeared to apply a small update. Now when I click “Play” it goes the “Launching” for like 10 sec and then nothing, the “Play” button comes back. Every once in a while, it will say updating again, but clicking “Play” after that just does the same thing or it will give the “Update” button again.

Interesting enough, this same exact thing is happening with WoW since the patch this past Tuesday. I’ve seen others on those forums reporting it as well.

I’m having this exact same issue after the patch. Same thing happened after scan and repair. I restarted my PC and now I’m back to the game simply not launching. Play > Launching > Playing Now > Play. Sometimes it acts like it’s going to Update but doesn’t download anything.

I just did a complete reinstall of Windows (was planning to for a while now, just took this as an opportunity) and reinstalled BNet and D4. Still the same problem even with a completely fresh system and install :frowning:

Updated patch. Tried to log in.
Get to character.
Select character.
Shows going in, then Black screen for 3 minutes, followed by Network Disconnect.

I’m with everyone. I did a repair 2x, reinstall. Tried on my laptop. Tried a different internet connection – same problem. Click Play, wait 20 seconds, Play button activates again. No window shows up for the game. No error message. I ran program as administrator, too-- no luck.

I’m stuck in downloading Hell. That 3GB patch that was just released won’t download fast enough to ever finish (5kb/s-20kb/s). Nothing I have tried affects the DL speed including: Rebooting system, resetting to default DL settings, setting DL limitation speeds to max, shutting DL limitations off entirely, and other stuff–nothing has helped at all.

Prelaunch patch for the expansion will be in September roughly one month or less before expansion launch.

Yeah, there have been multiple posts about this from different users all across the spectrum. No response or even acknowledgement from the clownshows at Blizzard… what a surprise. Same thing for me here, was working fine until the latest patch. Interesting that OP notes it’s happened over on the WoW forums too.

Should also note, I have also done a scan / repair, uninstalled the game and reinstalled, all to no avail. Also, the error log files aren’t showing any created for the game post patch. As usual, us users are left to find our own devices or I guess uninstall and move on? Like for the past 3 putrid seasons before these guys got their act together, briefly, and fixed for S4… only for this to happen.

Yeah, but this was a pre-expansion patch in that it added the pets feature that they are introducing in full with the expansion.

Anyway, same issue. After the last patch, the game won’t launch. I’ve tried doing what worked for others in the past (deleting dstorage.dll and localprefs.txt., disabling antivirus, reinstalling, etc.) and nothing works.

exactly same situation. tried scan and repair but did not work either.

Tried again today. Still won’t launch, but I get the report a crash pop-up each time now (the one that asks what you were doing and has re-open or close).

I was hoping this new small patch would fix this, but problem is still there. I click PLAY it says LAUNCHING and then nothing happens and button reverts back to play.

Replacing the file didn’t work. Now instead of launching the error reporter every time, it has gone back to doing nothing, i.e. click “play”, says “launching” for like 10 sec, then goes back to “play” again.

I didn’t expect it to work since I just reinstalled my OS and had a fresh install of BNet and D4 and WoW, but was worth a shot.

This is getting friggen annoying, especially since it’s both WoW and D4 for me. I think someone owes me some subscription time back.

Got an antivirus blocking your app?

Tried this but didn’t work. I hit PLAY, button changes to saying LAUNCHING then nothing happens and button goes back to saying play. Clowns at Support are useless, they just copy pasted same reply twice that is recommending me to reset my wifi…

This is ridicolous, game wont launch and they wont even acknowledge that they are at least aware of the problem…

Anyone tried deleting the BNet folder in C:\ProgramData\
