I have been trying to download the game for hours. It is consistently just sitting at 0 b/sec and wont download anything. Have been able to download other games through battlenet during this process, and its just Diablo4 that this is happening with. What is going on with this?
I usually start it updating and go do something else.
Then later its just done.
Pull up the task manager and watch your network connection, see if you are getting a lot of downloading. It could be downloading in the background but not updating the status. I have seen that occur too.
The other thing to do, is to start it before you go to bed and let it run overnight. Make sure your computer isn’t set to go to sleep though.
Its been 10 hours and still in the same spot.
The Download Manager shows either two things.
- “Patching”
- 24+ Hours remaining with 0 b/sec Download speed
It wont let me add links to the screenshots I have, but that’s all I am seeing.
Again, this is the only Blizzard game this is happening with. I have installed all of Warcraft, Hearthstone, and Starcraft II with absolutely zero issues.
It’s not my anti-virus as I have seen this causing issues in other posts, so that is completely turned off (feels great to have to do that to even get to this point). Task Manager is also showing 0 Mbps of Network activity, so its literally just not doing anything
Try setting a bandwidth limit:
Open the Battlenet logo in the app (top left icon)
Click Settings
Click Downloads
Scroll down to Download Limits
Set these to 999999
Click Done
See if that does anything.,
If not.
See if you can set the DNS to use Google DNS for your network adapter.
Below are steps for Windows PC users:
For PCs, you need to open the adapter properties and there are a couple ways to do this:
Windows 11/10:
- Go to Settings->Network and Internet.
- Under here choose the type of connection you are using, WiFi, or Ethernet.
- Once chosen, then go to Hardware Properties (for WiFi). If you click on Ethernet, it should take you to the same page. Look for DNS Server Assignment.
- Click “Edit” change Automatic to Manual, turn on IP4, then enter 8.8.8.8 for Preferred DNS. Click Save.
Alternate method:
- Hit Windows key and R. Type in Control and run it.
- Go to Network and Internet.
- Go to Network and Sharing Center.
- Click Change Adapter Settings.
- Find the connection you are using. Double Click it.
- Go to Properties at the bottom left.
- Look for Internet Protocol Version 4. Double click that.
- Where it says Obtain DNS automatically, change that to “Use the following DNS server address”.
- Enter 8.8.8.8 into the location. You may add 8.8.4.4 to the second box if you wish.
A third option if you are techy enough, you can use your router to assign that IP4 DNS address via the DHCP, you just have to remember to re-acquire the IP address after making the change.
Cautions:
Some networks may need to have the local router as a DNS option for some situations. IN those cases, you may want to set the IP address of your router as your primary DNS, and the 8.8.8.8 as your secondary.
