It feels like potentially everyone not playing in ultra widescreen aspect ratio will be in a massive disadvantage. I would suggest to force 16:9 or maybe 21:9 with black borders… Nothing beyond that cuz right now im seeing videos on YouTube of players teleporting like 3 screens away.

You know I didn’t think to try that. In Lost Ark you could force 21:9 on non widescreen displays and it’s true, you did have an advantage in PVP and especially the boss runs.
In fact I always would change to 21:9 before any of the boss fights because it made dodging the mechanics easier, but D4 already does this for the world boss.

There is PvP in this game. Also, there will likely be a ladder for seasons. Players should not have advantages over each other for things outside of the game itself. Do you support maphack too because this is not an esports game?

Let people have whatever resolution they want, otherwise they’ll whine incessantly like spoiled little children. Just put a complete fog-of-war over anything that’s outside the 21:9 range.

Yeah as if pvp is the sole focus of this game. Right?
Even in competitive sports irl, you get the best equipment for your athletes, not dumbing it down by forcing other athletes to wear worse equipment.
And what next will you complain? Some people having better internet connection than you so you want to make the game having artificial latency to all?
And people with better mouse and keyboard than you? Better mechanical skills than you? What next?

Doesn’t need to be a sole focus. It’s a part of the game, and important to many. Just like maphack shouldn’t be used, buying a monitor that shows you more than another player should be eliminated as a variable.
They need to do what they did with D2R. Black bars on the sides, and at least grant the ability in settings for anyone to force a wide perspective.

I mean August 2021 is not that long ago. D2 originally didn’t have such perspectives at all. D2R originally did. People complained, and they added black bars. It’s a good philosophy.
No it’s not, d2r is for d2r audience, d4 is for d4 audience. D2 was made for 4:3 monitor, d2r didn’t follow that. Thus no reason for d4 to follow d2r. D2r is the standard for nothing.
Every single arpg made after 2010 supports ultrawide. POE, grim dawn, titan quest with new patch, all torchlight games, d3, last epoch, wolcen, inquisitor martyr so on and so forth. D4 is a beacon of modernity in arpg, not backwardness.

Btw, tell your sense of fairness to people using 4:3 screen. Time goes on but you don’t seem to. The gaming world 20 years ago catered to 4:3 screen, 10 years ago was 16:9 screen. And then you’re asking for it to stay forever? Stop progressing at all.

When they copy something from a game you like, you call it “learning and improvement,” but when they copy something from a game you don’t like, you call it, “moving backward and living in the past.” You’re just a liar who wants everything your way.
Game development has always followed consumer purchases and standards. 16:9 is the current consumer standard. When 21:9 becomes the standard it will be the standard. Right now it’s a niche luxury.

Nope, it’s in transition. Almost every movie in the theater is made in 21:9. Don’t pretend that monitor is just for gaming.
