UI Why is it so rough

The UI interface is so rough

Explain rough?

I think the UI is fine but the skill tree is kinda a mess IMO

It’s terrible. Has some of the worst skill icons I’ve ever seen. In contrast, D3’s are the best.

And don’t get me started on the basic-af looking chat box. It looks like the old CMD from Windows 95…if it even had one. In contrast, Immortal has the best chat system. They should’ve copy/pasted THAT instead of all the :poop: classes & skills from D2.

Morons.

Take a look at the 2019 demo

Because of consoles

its one of 2 things

Wether they were cheap and decided to make a universal UI based on the lowest denominator, console

or

considering the game was due for december and got brought foward to june, they had to cut content and creating 2 UI was too much so they made only 1 for now

yeah the UI is horrible and increadible limited for PC

everything is in shows it was made for consoles

  • 1slot items
  • limited skill slots
  • search by tags rather than words
  • menues within menues
  • etc

They should bring back the 2019 version

I think its pretty simple, objective and easy to understand. Whats the problem really

Yeah, I had no problem at all with the UI, it’s easy to use, clear, and effective…

sounds like you have two games you enjoy very much. Put simply every game needs to have a different look and feel. The idea is to not recycle ideas but to make a game feel and look fresh. I personally have no issue with the UI as it does not hinder the game play in any manor for me. No need to call them morons if you do not like something perhaps suggesting ideas instead of like d3 icons were the best! immorals chat is the BEST. that does not explain what you are looking for at all.

I agree that the interface is a bit… ‘rough’. BUT I am sure in time it will get better.

Blizzard are absolute masters when it comes to UI/UX. Heck, I learned so much over the years - as a gfx designer - from them.

Ok, but is it better or worse than now?

Perhaps he can make an option for players to choose it

I personally hate how you can’t move or adjust anything.

Buff tracking in a PITA because you have to pick out these tiny little icons and text at the bottom of the screen

Eh… I wouldn’t agree with that. They’ve essentially relied on their community to make up for the shortcomings in their UI design for decades via mods.

The biggest problem with the UI is that it’s too cluttered. It doesn’t matter if it’s Advanced Tooltips or the skill tree, it’s all just way too busy. I have a feeling that PoE-itis is partly to blame. It’s the king right now and it has a very, very well done UI outside of its passive tree, which is obviously even more of an abomination than D4’s skill tree.

Problem is, Blizard didn’t pay attention to the better aspects of PoE’s UI and seemingly brought over the worst aspects of it. Even the advanced tooltips are frustrating to look at because certain aspects of their visuals (the nested tree lines in the tooltips and the divider lines in the wrong place for the currency bar for example) make readability take a pretty noticeable hit. Then there’s the whole thing where you can’t close open tabs or windows with the spacebar like you can in literally every other game of this type. They don’t even have to work around keybinds - they could use contextual functions to enable spacebar to close any open window instead of what it does now, which is make you trigger your Evade cooldown, often throwing you into mobs instead of what you want, which is to close the bloody window(s). At least you can move chat to either side of the screen now, I think, but sadly the server slam client also brought back something we didn’t want, which is you can acidentally click the chat window in just the right spot and cause it appear like it does in Diablo 3 instead of how it’s supposed to be, which is entirely clickthrough.

Getting to the Rewards section is annoying as well, and if you miss the indicator showing how to do that the very first time you trigger its activation, you may end up like me and not know how until you go through trial and error and/or see the notice at the top of the screen that tries its best to not grab your attention.

The whole UI is just convoluted and needs an overhaul. If a player is fighting the UI and it’s getting in the way, especially during combat, it needs a redesign.
