Ugly Muddy Graphics

Title says it all, but also GREY UGLY MUDDY GRAPHICS in this game, come on!
D3 is about 100 times more colorful than the drab dull graphics in this game, this
is a major turnoff for me. Look at some other similar games like POE and just
about any other game and you see a beautiful variety of colors, shape up d4, very
dissapointed.

I am sure you will have more to say.

That is what many players did not want in D4.

This way :point_right: :door:

You purchased a game with a darker look just to complain about a game with a darker look. :person_shrugging:

Yeah, and one of the bigger criticisms about D3 was that it was too colourful. It didn’t have the same grit and dark tones that Diablo 2 had.

Which is why D4 visually has returned to the grit, mud, and darker tones of previous games.

That said, there is still plenty of colour in D4. The only zone where it’s all muddy and more brown than anything else would be Scosglen, which is fitting given that the entire area appears to get a LOT of rain and there aren’t many paved roads.

No. Please don’t ruin d4. Please play d3. This game already looks a lot like d3, we don’t need more.

“Darkness does not mean bleakness,” John Mueller, Diablo IV’s art director, tells us. “There’s a lot of games that do very good dark, Gothic, bleak - almost like a horror movie. Which works, for kind of a narrower experience. But we know with Diablo, this is a game that players are going to play for thousands and thousands of hours, and so we use colour very purposefully.”

“We love the way Diablo II looks as well, so with our new technology - with our new rendering engine and physically based rendering - this was an opportunity to go back to this grim-dark world, but to render it in a very painterly kind of way.”

In case you were wondering about ‘why’.

You’re right, I do, not only are the graphics pathetically DRAB but the game play is so repetitive and boring you can barely stay awake for more than a few minutes playing it.
Anyone missed one little mote of animus and had to backtrack for 5 minutes and then after searching the whole area find there is no final animus so you can’t open the door?!
how about make a few more stinking animus monsters to ensure this travesty doesn’t happen? that too tough for these developers? backtracking in this game is a real thing and a real pain. Bad graphics, bad game play, bad game. It is not even in the same league as D3 which is a real work of art and beats every aspect of this game without fail.

And so many of us are thankful to never have to feel like we are in an episode of scooby doo while playing diablo ever again!

i agree they could add a little more flavor in some of the biomes but if it ever looks like d3 color wise that will be the last straw for me

I don’t get how people see 504 as a graphical callback to Diablo 2. I wish 504 looked as good as Diablo 2 (Resurrected), where mobs are distinct from the background and each other.

Still trying to get that to catch on, huh?

Not really, I just refuse to call it by the name they gave it. Maybe if they ever add Big Red. Also, I find it appropriate to call it by a number, it being a game about numbers.

I just use my Nvidia utility to brighten things up and change the color temperature. That way I satisfy my personal desire for more color without trying to force it on everyone. Maybe you should try that.
