Why have them only accessible after the hardest content has been defeated and you’re 100 or close to it?
It kind of defeats the whole purpose of having them in the first place. Why even try to acquire them if you have to be near level 100 solo to get a chance to acquire them? And, the materials required to even farm the bosses are non-optimally designed. Poor design. Blizz should know better.
So, how about changing how and where they are dropped, hmmm? What’s the point of using them if you’re already in a place where you can defeat the content as it is?
Otherwise, they’re useless and vanity items.
Make special uniques that actually help progress through the game.
Example:
Tal Rasha Ring
Do more of these types of items and stop gatekeeping them behind end-game content. Did you all not learn how D2 worked in this regard?
Sigh. Maybe it’s just not the game for me anymore. It’s a lovely looking game and yes i have had fun annihilating things on my Sorc, but c’mon - what IS the point?
D2 also had very rare items that were highly sought after with horrible drop rates. I still haven’t found a handful of items to this day. Now we could trade for everything, but that led to its own problems, as we’ll soon see when this patch hits. The RMT will increase by quite a bit.
That being said, as you’ve stated, none of these items are required for quite literally anything in the game. Just like in D2 those items weren’t required either, they were just 'nice to have’s. You can beat everything in D2 naked actually, as some people have already proved. Don’t think the same can be said for D4, you need at least some items.
They are not meant to help you at the game, they are more like a trophy or medal. To make you feel extra good after completing the game, or stay a bit longer seeking them out… (FOMO to the rescue!)
The goal in games like this is to get as powerful as you can. Ubers aof in that goal so for that they make total sense. I’m hoping in future though more AoZ level content comes back where Ubers really matter.
Currently, she has one-shot “live or die” mechanics. If you are skilled, you can avoid them 100% for as long as needed. Players have killed her using only the Seneschal Campanion, never attacking her once themselves.
In S4, it’s changing. We don’t have all the details, but a big one will be her telegraph attacks being clearer and better defined.
The game needs ‘chase’ items and that is what these represent for the moment. Maybe one day Runewords will replace them but for now its nice to have something to grind for - even if Tempered Legendary items may just be better in many cases.
I have no desire to even find them as the game is over around lvl 55 - 60 after the campaign ends. Theres nothing left to do after that unless u just like grinding for items that never drop and for what ??
In d2 atleast if you waste all the time trying to get the keys for the uber, you get to play a fun and challenging uber . The torch is the best item in the gsme and yyou are GUARANTEED a drop if you beat it. If that game wasnt psy to win on jsp, it would definitely be the best game ever. It still pretty much is, theres just no point in ladders if the bots mess it up
Anyways
The d4 system is terrible, its based on wasting your materials and time to get no drop, to make you want to try again
But I dont try again because theree no point in getting any of the uber unique when you can 1 click thru the entire game without them
That’s why I proposed that if there are no Uber Unique dropped from the Uber boss, it will be rewarded with 1 Resplendent Sparks and 150-200 Resplendent Sparks can be used to create 1 Uber Unique.
This will keep players from getting bored and having goals to pursue throughout the season.
I find it ironic that they’ve finally made Uber Uniques somewhat accessible in Season 4, but at the same time the itemization overhaul makes Uniques way less desirable.
The irony is that it was a patch and season all about Loot and somehow Unique items fell through the balance crack - although we still don’t know what has been adjusted post PTR yet. The patch notes were vague on this point.
