Uber Lillith's waves and latest patch

Hey all

Before the patch, Uber Lillith’s waves were tankable with a Barb with the right talents, gear affixes and paragon choices. So if you were to make a mistake you wouldn’t get one shotted. While it was unrealistic even for the universe our characters are in that one
would be able to survive a spiked mass of rocks flowing through the floor - it was doable.

Now - with the latest patch defensive affix reductions - it might not be doable at all. On top of that vulnerable & crit being nerfed ( while giving us more variety and I’m all for that) will make kills slower.

After defeating the first two adds, Lillith is about 60-70% of the time off screen, untouchable casting waves. I’ve had sequences where she goes for 1 wave barrage, comes down to the arena for 0.5 seconds, goes back again for a second barrage, followed by 3-4 secs ground time after which goes again in the air.

Those waves sequences being spammed one after another, in close frequency one after the other with no cooldown and in the meantime having no damage connection to the boss is just going to be unbalanced in light of the NEW patch notes.

In light of the new patch notes with defensive affixes, crit & vulnerable being nerfed the frequency of those waves just doesn’t add up with the new zero mistake, prolonged fight. Didn’t add up before, felt buggy - definitely not now!

Anyone think the same or am I just being out of line here ?

Hey, give them time. This is a new IP they’re working with, and it’s only season 1.

I think your ultra-tanky Barbarian build was the only possible way to not get one-shot by the spike waves, and I’m honestly not even sure that was intentional. I’m pretty sure that that’s meant to be a guaranteed instant death, like regardless of how much survivability you have in your build. Which I personally don’t care for, as a design choice in a fight that is ostensibly meant to be the ultimate test of your build - your build kinda doesn’t matter nearly as much as your reflexes and ping with this Dark Souls you die if you miss even once approach. Also the hitboxes on those spike waves are kinda sus.

Yeah to be honest with you, the thought of the devs leaving an option for the player to tank the waves was probably not intentional indeed. That has crossed my mind as well. And yet - players broke their game and in various ways, be it with super huge defenses or offenses.

And honestly - If they actually intended that waves are to be only dodged and not survived at any cost and devs just didn’t feel the need to spike the numbers because they thought we couldn’t make builds to tank them - that’s alright. I can understand that and I guess I can be actually ok with having to play this way with the new patch notes.

But the frequency of the wave sequences, one after another with 0.5 secs in between followed by 3-4 seconds ground time after which the same thing happens… that’s a bit too much.

I don’t think having the new patch notes + the waves being that frequent is adequate. That’s why a lot of people made ultra dmg builds to basically skip that phase and nuke the hell out of her. Maybe people will figure it out again.

I’m happy to play flawlessly and with the new patch notes, but this frequency wave - that has to be fixed and gaps have to be longer between here doing that. Else with the nerfed dmg we will be jumping up and down for 10 minutes there…

I kinda resent it, as someone who tries to figure their own builds out rather than follow a guide. I really liked the way they pitched this boss, as the final ultimate test of your build - what better validation for your homebrew build than literally passing a test? So I was really disappointed to find out that I probably will never beat her, no matter my build, because my reflexes or possibly internet speed are just not good enough to reliably always dodge those waves. I guess I take solace in knowing that my build was damaging her at a reasonable pace and that I could shrug off her non-spike-wave attacks pretty easily. But I’m just not that fast, as a human, I guess.

Yeah , let’s be real here that’s the same reason I made my tanky build. To avoid being flawless. And it is kind of sad that our builds don’t matter as much as our skill but if that’s the way they want it…I’ll just drink 2-3 coffees, spend a weekend and will get it done, at least I got a good internet - but the incessant spamming of waves on behalf of the boss - that’s got to be fixed. I don’t mind dealing with waves but for the love of God - they have to fix the frequency.
