I’m probably beating a dead horse here but no matter what way I try to dodge the big spikes they hit me. I’m pretty sure, at this point, the psychologists they hired to assist with “player engagement” told them to make it unbeatable so we’d bang our heads against the wall over and over. Hence, why they keep going hard after builds that can skip phases. It really does feel like a game designed by psychologists and not developers passionate about creating a fun gaming experience.
I’m calling it now, the fight will magically be fixed when T5 is released and the next uber capstone boss will be similarly cheap. How tf are we supposed to avoid these stupid spikes?
I agree, the entire fight is essentially a flawless run where the player must not make any mistakes while navigating through a maze of ridiculous attack patterns. Why do you think you see a lot of crazy damage builds that push past her first form so easily such as bone spear? Even worse this encounter is impossible to run a team with, so ya the one team member who somehow evaded the spikes managed to live in the tiny circle of death. It feels as though you have to run one of these cookie cutter builds in order to get the job done and skip the mechanics but by then does it feel like you actually completed the encounter or simply chessed it? Why should cheesy builds overshadow and make other builds that are unique to players feel pointless during this fight? How obtainable is capstone to the casual player that may or may not have the best gear as compared to some of the other capstone bosses?
I think they need a better presentation of their actual hitbox. The damage is not happening where you see the spikes, but recognizably before the visual effect.
You can actually run into them from the sides or from behin and take no damage.
Also movement speed is your best stat to survive (after raw damage, but thats a different story).
Spikes come in only a few patterns:
big spiky wave without prior jumping away: simply dash through Lilith to get behind her
double wave in the center one direction and 2 waves at the sides: having 2 evasive charges sometimes doesnt feel enough.
double wave in the center in opposite directions and 2 waves at the sides: go behind the first wave and simply run in a circle.
triangular form with slam in the center: if you dont see any space on the outside, stay on the far end of one of the wave indicators and dash into Lilith after her slam - there is no persistent damage and she will land before the wave reaches you
tripple wave one direction with slam: this is the only pattern where I cant give an easy explanation to, and it largely depends on where she lands to allow you to dodge.
The real dodging starts with a different, new attack which is not the spikes.
For those who have troubles with one shotting Lilith, it can be easier doing it with a second player.
Both players should try staying on the same spot , so her attacks are obviously aimed at a single direction. Also helps with the blood orbs spawning at the same spot (right behind both players).
If one dies, the other simply has to remember to not ressurect in a single go, but do it in 2 attempts with a dodging sequence in between.
For real. I’ve beaten alot of difficult game bosses (Nameless King, the big dragons from DS3, Valkyrie Queen, Malenia etc.). They were tough but not cheap. Uber Lilith is cheap af. The hitboxes are janky and any sort of lag makes it impossible.
Na if you’re telling me only 3% of player base has beaten her using cookie cutter builds, then its obvious they don’t respresent the casual player. Not adjusting her damage only creates outliers and depreciates creativity from other builds having a chance. It’s obvious they’ll do something in the future, though when only time will tell.
I literally changed my build for this, (that I didnt want to change to for that character in the first place but you must for this dumb fight). Because, APPARENTLY, “PLAY THE WAY YOU WANT TO PLAY” means specfic builds for specific things.
That is genuinly more difficult than Lilith, in case you dont simply power through it but fight your way against all mechanics.
But D4 playerdamage is much less well balanced, so the randomness in getting gear is throwing sticks into the wheels of each player at a different interval, which makes cheesing in Elden Ring much easier to reach, but in Diablo 4 much easier in its results.
Maybe it’s my TV settings but I don’t even see the effects that are killing me. There is no animation, it’s not the blood sacks, I attack her, and then maybe 20 seconds later I just die and nothing is even happening. I tried maybe 3 times, not that serious but I can’t even see what’s killing me every time why would I bother with this again lol
It’s almost like effects are happening before they are displayed on screen and I noticed this happens in NMD too where you can die to an effect that hasn’t been animated yet, or how you can be killed by lightning in nmd even when you’re under the dome (I have one of these clipped)
I guess it’s good that I don’t really care about this fight since it offers no reward and much like the rest of diablo3 2 isn’t difficult, just lame
Why does this fight exist in this state? Blizzard is making us fight nonsense to collect data so they can finish the game, same reason nmd were extreme in pre season and are now piss easy
i regret not taking advantage of broken bone spear to kill her months ago SO much now, i’m trying this on a rogue that has the damage output but holy god i stand zero chance of getting around those spikes. i swear that having higher frame rates must give you more time to dodge them cause i’m watching videos of people just casually running around them while on ps5 it feels like they’re dropping either directly on top of me, or i have 0.2 seconds to see it, guess the direction and get out of the way
i don’t mind, and sort of enjoy, the hardest content in a game being restricted to only using the best things and having the knowledge to build into those things in advance and utilize them properly.
what i don’t enjoy though is doing that and then having it boil down to “is this build glitched or overpowered” or “roll this d20 except 18 of the sides are a 1, good luck”
On barb, I managed to survive 1 hit with 5/5 challenging shout, max defensive aspects and lots of hp/dr on paragon board. The problem is Lilith spams bone spikes and some times back to back. Before one is done, the next is coming.
I was just reading the PC thread, they were saying (in short) how this difficult this fight is in all the wrong ways. The worst boss in any game played and it took some over 7-800 tries.
