For consideration:
1 agony shard, 1 mucus egg.
Summary:
- You have to farm the Helltides, and ideally, the Blood events at given times
- A secondary step is to convert the applicable materials to the pieces required for Duriel
- After those steps, it is required to repeat it again in order to get the two separate materials required for one Duriel summon
- Uber-uniques drop around or just below ~2% based on very rough numbers. It has been observed to not spawn over the course of the upper tens or even hundreds of runs
- Duriel frequency heavily favors parties that can do rotations. Single-players do not have that benefit
- The Uber Uniques may spawn the same one and therefore forces the same current rate of farming
- Farming in groups, while heavily dependent on the community at large, is suspect. Ad-Hoc groups may farm and then some drop from the party to preserve their own materials while the player who spent the cost loses.

Second this. It would be one thing if the items were more farmable, if we could get any from Beast or Zir, or if Uber uniques had better drop rates, but a single player completing having to kill Grigoire and Varshan 100 times each to statistically get a single drop is absurd.
Each living steel chest is one Grigoire kill/ 1 shard.
Each Whisper has a chance of spawning a malignant enemy, which we would need to kill a minimum of 4 of to get 1 Duriel, and every 10th whisper is guaranteed to drop 1 item and a chance of a second. The grind for Varshan is significantly longer than Grigoire. At least with Grigoire, a good Helltides run can net you 15-20 and each LSC has a small chance of dropping an additional 5.
2 of each gives 1 Duriel kill.

Yep. Way too many mats required for the rng involved. Same with Beast in the Ice it’s ridiculous requiring 9 of the items to make a sigil. Yes my Sorc would like a shot at the 925 oculus but needing 9 per and only getting 1 out of a nightmare dungeon is ridiculous when RNG is factored in. I don’t have an issue at all with the RNG. The mat requirement though is way to much.

I’d propose have a set limit of runs weekly let’s say 20 , then the ability to farm mats for additional runs !
I’ve been thinking this exact thing the last two days: either raise the opportunity to get mats, or lower the cost to summon. Keeping half of the summoning materials behind a timed wall is disrespectful to our time. Someone broke it down in another post, but I think the equivalent was around 3 or 4 hours per Duriel summon for a solo player.
I’m especially frustrated with the loot, because now I have a small collection of Black Rivers and I don’t even use that build! I appreciate the grind and chase, but you have to find the balance between challenging and fun. Right now D4 is a straight up chores list.
