I am seeing that most people seem to recommend axe and totem however I am having hard time putting down my mace. I am fully aware that two handed mace have set overpower affix and it does nothing for me and while I do hit slower, my shred tooltip damage is much higher with it than with axe + totem.
So I know it’s about attack speed but does it really matter that much? Cause at level 70 I have item power 795 totem and axe sitting at my stash with good affixes but I am not sure if I should swap cause when I do swap to those, my third hit of shred goes from 23k to 16.5k, so is losing basically 6k damage somehow worth it? Whats the catch that I am not seeing here?
Totem gives CDR to keep Grizzly Rage up more often, and also allows for another aspect.
As for the damage difference, it seems a little high but DPS should theoretically be the same assuming same type of stats since one handed has faster attack speed.
Attack speed is also defensive. The quicker I swing and get out of the animation, the sooner I can dodge an attack. Personal preference.
Once i switched to a 1 Hander and Totem, I can’t find a 2 hander that does more raw damage than my 1 Hander Combo.
A lot of streamers prefer the 2 handed weapons to get the 100% dmg to blurred beast.
The affix from totems alone is enough to dual wield instead of two hander. Giving up those affixes for slightly higher rolls on two hander compare to 1 hand weapon isn’t worth it.
Thats so odd because I have item power 800 axe and totem and at max upgrade they maybe equal to 2600 dmg, but my two handed mace is 3160 dmg.
I’ve mostly used 2H with a staff. Staff splits the difference in speed a bit and crowd control damage is more useful than overpower (for shred).
But the main bonus is the aspect. If you have one strong aspect you want to build around, then a 2h is better, but if you need more aspects (or need the CD reduction) then 1h is better. 2h also is more spirit efficient as more attacks drains spirit more quickly (depending on play style and other attributes).
Both BB and Shepherd’s builds are much stronger with a 2h.
Hmm I guess if you think about it an axe with attack speed on crits and totem with core skills dealing more damage based on fortify + grizzly rage, could work to substitute the damage. I Got to really test it out and see.
I slapped on a perfect rolled Dire Wolf aspect onto a two hander. This gave me 100% spirit reduction during Grizzly Rage. Then I got Rampaging Werebeast on my amulet for 8 more seconds of Grizzly Rage. I’m using Nature’s Fury over Earthen Might. Suffice to say I need more attack speed or Lucky Hit. Just so I can reduce Ultimate cooldown to as little as possible. 20 second downtime is too long.
I don’t think the Dire Wolf aspect on the 2h is ideal as the spirit reduction from Amulet to 2h is typically wasted given other spirit reduction/recovery. Have you tried it the other way around?
Yeah, my previous set up is the other way around. The spirit cost reduction and cooldown reduction on totem really helps out. Though dual wield makes it so I still have 10 second downtime for Grizzly Rage but need to use Earthen Might as key passive. Earthen Might is mainly for the crit chance and not the spirit regen. Mainly experimenting on a way to minimize Grizzly Rage downtime. There’s always a downtime, jsut got to get it as close to zero as possible.
