Trying to shapeshift "properly" (I guess)

Any time I make a Druid I usually do pure werewolf nonsense bad builds because I find them fun.

I just made another druid to try and shift around using Heightened Senses / Quickshift / Bestial Rampage, and I have to say swapping to a bear form feels so freaking clunky that it is jarring.

Nothing breaks up the high speed flow of Shredding through packs of enemies like having to stop and hit something with Maul to maintain the buffs, or randomly using Pulverize.

How do you guys do it without breaking your flow? So far, I absolutely hate it.

Druid is bad game design there isn’t a solution to using those abilities and it not being both worse damage and more work than every other class

This x1000. I hated the shape shifting buffs so much that I ditched them all and ditched WH boots and am using Grizzly Rage in my LS build with Cyclone Armor and my pit clears improved drastically. Couldn’t clear a 90, now breaking 110.

Wildheart hunger boots are the absolute worst with this issue. I insta sell them without even looking at stats

What’s your aspect setup and key passive?

I abandoned this druid. Trying to shift around and maintain all these short buffs but also stay in bear form for 2+ seconds to get buffs is horrible. Horrible horrible horrible. I’m hanging up this class until something significant changes. Gameplay feels absolutely horrible.

Tempest Roar, Mad Wolfs Glee, Unsung Ascetics Wraps

Shepherds on 2h, Stampede on ring, Grizzly Rage while in WW on ring, Grizzly Rage duration on amulet (thinking about moving GR duration to ring and trying a different offensive aspect on amulet replacing Stampede that I currently have on ring), Vigorous on pants and Metamorphosis on boots.

I use the 30% damage while healthy key passive since it far outclasses Lupine Ferocity and I think it is better than the one that gives you 1 spirit and 30% damage to CC or whatever. With Grizzly Rage you have no resource issues but I still have a roll of Spirit per second on boots.

Edit: Also wanted to say this setup will work just fine for Tornado as well with a couple changes like remove unsung wraps for Legendary gloves with Stormchasers aspect, change paragon stuff that has lightning damage to ones that have physical like Outmatch, change tempers so you can get chance for tornado to cast twice and will probably want to do damage vs close instead of distant which is best for Lightning Storm.

I’ve had slightly better luck going the opposite direction: Werebear is my main form and Werewolf is my shift-out. My damage dealers are Pulverize and Trample. To maintain the Wolf side of Bestial Rampage, I use Blood Howl & Claw. The attack speed bonus on Pulverize is actually noticeable, dunno how the damage bonus works with Shred.

2 out of 15 seconds to maintain a bonus is definitely reasonable. It’s the Quick shift bonus and Wildheart bonuses that stack and are on separate timers that I cannot get on board with. I’ve tried it with different skills and it is just clunky and worst of all not fun to play around.

I agree that the timing of Wildheart is beyond stupid. You get the bonus a whole 5 seconds, and damage ticks up every 2 seconds. In order to maintain this you would need to switch forms literally every other attack.

It’s so easy to keep track of Bestial Rampage, Quickshift, Heightened Senses, Enhanced Pulverize timer, Provocation Timer, and Lupine Ferocity because they ALWAYS show on our buff bar in the EXACT SAME PLACE. None are ever hidden because the buff bar is too small.

Super easy. Barely an inconvenience.

I see what you did there

I’m totally okay with rampage, quickshift and hs. I manage to ramp up damage rate from base 24k to 86-90k. Still a little struggling with wildhunger a bit, simply can’t get in rhythm most of the time

The way Wildheart works you have to shift nearly as much as you attack to maintain the bonus so I just don’t see how in an arpg anyone will ever be able to get into a rhythm maintaining this buff while having any actual success in the game.

Well, mostly i get used to it, with zenith, trample and deb roar. Usually some skill is available every 3 seconds, but it doesn’t work against bosses. So could be good to change that times to 5 and 10

I find that as soon as a stacking buff timer is often forcing you to click a button you dont want to as it inhibits you combat effectiveness or cds, that stacking temp buff is probably not tuned correctly.

Wild boots fall squarely into that category of needing tuning

For me, it’s not the shifting that is the problem, it’s the builder/spender thing that is the problem. I was originally making a pulverize druid this season, but it was way too irritating having to use a builder. I switched to something that avoided spirit issues like that.

Druid has many issues but just wanted to say that in endgame you dont need a builder for pulverize.

I have spirit Per second on boots and chest. Resource gen temper on rings, Shako with resource gen and banished Lord talisman with resource gen. I generator 35 spirit per second and Can just spam pulverize all day Long.

Just saying.

Funny you say that, I was actually playing that same character again last night, which is probably the first time I’ve touched him in 2 weeks. I took umbral aspect and some spirit on kill and had absolutely zero issues after remaking the character.

It was so irritating only being able to use 1-2 pulverizes at a time before needing to spam wind shear. Now, the primary reason to use wind shear is for the damage multiplier it provides. Way less irritating.
