Trying to gaslight these newcomers is just going to make them quit

Blizzard over here explaining on their offical Twitter and YouTube what season resets are and it getting zero traction.

The reality is the majority of the live service fans have already had great live service experience from Destiny, WoW, Warframe ,ESO, GTA Online.

You trying to gaslight these people that your archaic 20 year old season reset model is fun isn’t going to work, you’re just going to make people quit and that’s the truth.

Most of these people are pumping hours into their eternal character, when they realize you’re not respecting their time and want them to lose all that progress they’re not going to stick around.

If you add any of those games I’ve listed and add seasonal resets for every content update those games gotten, those games would have died years ago.

Don’t come here to try and gaslight me that this is a core ARPG system it isn’t… only 1% of the ARPG genre has seasonal resets it isn’t common place in the genre as a whole, only practiced in like 3 of the thousands of games in the genre.

Wait for these people to reach level 80 and understand why there are seasons

I actually agree. I never really got the point of starting fresh every few months. I think seasons should be more like alternate universes. You take your eternal realm character, go through a portal and mess about in this alternate reality (new mechanics, themes etc). When youre done maybe have an event trying to find your way back to the eternal realm.

Kind of like that tv show sliders.

Starting from scratch with how slow and dull the combat and leveling is… vomit inducing.

It’s crazy getting max level in other live service games don’t feel like a punishment in other live service games… it feeling like that in diablo 4 is terrible game design period.

The cringe part is… if they just added end game progression like other live service games nothing is stopping these reset junkies from resetting every season… but instead they want to force the whole community to do it with them

Why are you comparing MMO’s with an ARPG with 1 MMO feature (Static open world)?

Anyone that purchased a Diablo game without researching what kind of game it is, is entirely their problem. Seasons are the end game, seasons are what everyone expects and wants, and seasons are what we have all been waiting for. Eternal is just for testing builds while we wait for seasons.

Seasons have more story, more lore, more mechanics, more bosses, competitive leaderboards, new gear, new legendary affixes, new gems, faster and smoother levelling experience and more ( some of the listed things won’t be here till S3 but generally speaking the above is what we normally have).

In most ARPG’s you complete a season within a week then go back to Eternal characters and wait for the next season, Yes Diablo will be a little longer, it will take 1-2 weeks to finish a season in D4 but we have 3 month long seasons compared to others that are 6 months which is much nicer. Gives players a reason to come back to the game more often and play longer.

Seasons are optional. How’s it forced?

Game is advertised as a Live Service game.

ARPG=/= season resets there’s 3 arpg that do this and the other 997 don’t. Not a core arpg system just a cringe 20 year old model.

Game advertised as a Live Service game.

Blah blah blah…i already listed other live service games that do this exact same thing without seasonal resets

Dude you’re not forced to buy the next wow expansion argument… stop this gaslighting

You must be really fun at parties…

I’m entirely sure you don’t know what gaslighting is.

It’s the truth, i want the best for diablo 4 and want it to lead the arpg genre into a better direction not stagnant cause its older fans don’t want it to evolve

What best and what you want are not the same thing. You havn’t the first clue what is best for D4.

You’re saying its optional… it is like saying level up is optional.

Everything is a choice, this argument has zero standing.

60k view youtube video…2k likes… have fun killing the game i guess

I am also sure you don’t know what the word optional means.

Season is a mode of gameplay you can choose to play. It’s not forced. You can continue to play on Eternal realms.

It is very optional. You level up by playing the game organically. You have to literally physically join the season by your own free will.

More like wait for these people to reach level 80 and just outright quit the game.

Yes, that means it gets small but regular updates e.g. Seasons.

Well, you couldn’t be more wrong even if you tried…but hey let me say a random number, 997 games don’t do season resets but over 9000 do!

Yes that means it gets small and regular updates to keep the player base interested and lets them continue playing - rather than waiting for expansions to drop. People need to learn what a live service game means, it doesn’t mean it’s an MMO. There are MMO’s that are not live service games, often an MMO only becomes an LSG once they bring in battle passes as that is considered small and regular content updates.

Can’t seak for WoW and ESO or GTA, but i wouldn’t call Destiny a great live service experience. One of the worst rather i have ever seen.
Warframe…i’m on the edge there. Love that game but is also eating up your soul and you won’t even realize how much money you waste on a F2P title. I can tell you…a f***g lot.

But i know that wasn’t the point of this tread i know  Go on don’t mind me

Bruh buying the expansion is optional you’re not forced to…

Is such a weak argument… the season has new content that people are bared from… no one is forced to do anything this argument is standing on paper sheets

They don’t though
… only diablo, poe and grim dawn… there’s thousands of arpg simply made and developed as box games with no seasons

Yup.

  1. The season was timed poorly, a month in a half after launch is a terrible time to do a season
  2. The game is still in a terrible state, with bad itemization and endgame that stops at 60 (items stop scaling)
  3. Seasons only work if there is a significant content drop with an economy and a reason to ask people to reinvest their time. With how many good games there are out there to play with my LIMITED time, you better have am amazing hook to get me start over.
  4. Seasons don’t have to be every 3 months. They can be whatever you want them to be. 5 months, 6 months, a year.
