Come back with your writeup after 200 hours in a PoE trade league and after 200 hours in a Diablo 4 season. I’ll have the popcorn ready.

They do this for standard characters each league. This is because leagues change a lot of things and can brick builds. So rather than asking players to save up hundreds of regret orbs and click hundreds of times to take out their passive points, you can do it all at once.
Blizzard should copy this for eternal realm characters for later seasons.
All the poe content you listed came over time and is accumulated. Give d4 some time to come out with more content.

I prefer sitting on the character select screen and pretend like it’s just a preview and the game actually isn’t out yet.
I wish botting was legal in D4 because that’s the only way I could possibly enjoy the game right now.

The difference between PoE early days and diablo 4 early days is that back at PoE people had no other deep ARPG to enjoy. So playing the unfinished mess and hoping it would improve was the only way forward. No one needs to do that anymore, the market is more diverse and has plenty of more polished options. hell, you can even go for Last epoch these days.
No one needs to wait D4 to get less awful, devs can’t rely on that

There is no competiton, Poe is better even now, and will be better with next expansion.D4 is trash of a game which needs remake from scratch.

It’s not even about the lack of content in D4, it’s just that everything feels irrelevant.
Crafting, NMDs, Helltides, Pinnacle bosses, the player isn’t rewarded properly for whatever they do in the game.
It feels terrible.
The main issue with that comparison is PoE was a kickstarter game and F2P.
It relied on that initial funding and further funding to make all that.
Bliz is an established company with a lot of money to throw into a flagship franchise from the start.

PoE2 is PoE patch 4.0. Currently PoE is on patch 3.0.
PoE2 is essentially an expansion. It’s not a different game. Stuff will change, but it’s not a different game.
Lots of people seem to think PoE and PoE2 are different games. Just wanted to say OP is correct in giving PoE a shot because if they don’t like PoE at all they probably won’t like the expansion coming out next year all that much.

This is actually why I think GGG isn’t even going to wait for PoE2 before bulling D4.
For the first time ever they’re giving away two free MTX for Exilecon. I don’t think that’s a coincidence. They probably have a banger league to show off after a year of meh while they worked on PoE2.

I think fully unlocked costs around $120 last time I checked. Might be more now, but last time I remember asking about it that was around the price, but it has been like 5 or 6 years so who knows.
