I just don’t agree with them.
You didn’t even play the game. That said, exilecon is tomorrow and if you’re not familiar with PoE 2 (which is not a new game, but the same game with updated graphics, a better skill gem system, a 2nd campaign with another 10 acts and more just everything), look into that! I’ve played a lot of PoE and I agree it looks pretty bad, but if you actually got into it, it’s a much better game than current D4.
Is there a skip or do you have to play the first campaign. I’ll give it a good faith try.
You can skip the first campaign. PoE 2 will transfer the following:
All your characters, all the stash tabs and cosmetics you paid for, you can skip the 1st campaign, just go watch some youtube man.
poe2 was an answer to the d4 announcement.

1 - Why are they “gross”? (whatever that word means to zoomers these days)
2 - You’re creating a character with an established backstory. Even though they didn’t do anything with that beyond character creation, that’s why it’s locked. You don’t have to like it, but you should at least make the attempt to understand the why of it.

It’s not, it’s boring. PoE’s skill tree is vastly superior, but it’s not for casuals.
Items in PoE are much better too. Items are a core component of an arpg. Better items > Better graphics

This is the worst take I’ve ever heard lol. So you played for a few levels on poe loll. The last thing PoE is is “slow”. Of course the graphics aren’t as good but that’s about it.
POE is better in almost every other aspect.
You can ACTUALLY TRADE in POE.
There is Magic Finding and Target farming and actual farming for alts.
There is ACTUAL build diversity. There is multiple ways to play. If you want to be a support build you can, tank, DPS etc.
The Loot is actually good and doesn’t seem lackluster and just uninteresting.
Trust me … I’ve played Diablo my whole life and I wanted D4 to be soooo good but its just not… They want to talk about open world mmo feel etc etc… but theres basically no trade? No build diversity? Basically just build HIGH dps characters… ( and only a few builds can do that) They removed MF and thats a HUGE PART OF ARPG. They just dropped the ball big time on D4 and Season 1 is not good. They will lose a MASSIVE amount of their player base when PoE 2 gets here if they dont correct it soon.

Like others here, I did the same thing, lol. My only problem with POE on the PS5 is that it’s the PS4 version and interface is all over the place. Very much a PC port with not many of the mod cons for console play.
Even still, there’s a great depth to the combat and gameplay that is much appreciated. Yeah, the graphics are a downgrade, but once you play for a couple hours, you honestly don’t notice it that much.
It does have a bit of a slow and clunky start on that beach, but things pick up. Great topic.
LOL. PoE is a decade old and then some, and still goes strong even looking old. I will defend PoE over the simple reason a devoloper in D4 complains about the classes in their own game, diversity.
Now for me, been a decade as well of playing it. So consider me being nostalgic on how I remember it. Tons of builds, barely any restrictions of a class bleeding into another. Monsters were preset a certain level to see the results of a test run.
Story? None really at the time. it was about a faction waging war on some enchanted swords that would murder them if they intruded. it’s very hazy to remember it all. But every character got the boot to the game’s shore, witchcraft, murder, etc. I’m actually tempted to DL it again just to go experience it again while posting.
Queston about the D fans, in the first diablo when you came across the dying npc outside the cathedral in D1, were you like “I’m gonna hear this guy’s speech everytime” or “yeah, butcher, bye guy!”?
Anyways, PoE was THE game to bide the time for monster slaying with diablo-ish bloodshed and building, unless your jam was Torchlight series, which was a fun toony version.
In terms of ARPGs with modern graphics…yeah D4 is the only one currently. BG3 I GUESS could be considered one…but IDK that’s turn-based and turn based kinda goes against ARPG imo.
So that’s totally valid criticism. POE is ugly 10 year old graphical jank lol and it should be…because it’s 10 years old. xD

POE is far superior and deeper than D4 at any level
the only thing D4 is better is the graphic…from a game come out later 10 years
I’ve been playing Vampire Survivors and Halls of Torment lately. They’re 5 bucks and way better than D4. But as far as these people hating on PoE / 2, that game is literally free LOL

Sounds like a skill issue. Systems are great. Your comprehension maybe not so great?
That’s the point of an rpg. You start off small, without a lot of damage, and you slowly gain powers and get more powerful. It gives you a sense of scale and progression. Are you new to the rpg genre? It’s not just an ACTION game it’s an ACTION Role-playing Game.
I’m a Dad and I love games like PoE. But I enjoy having my brain challenged a bit and coming up with my own unique builds, which PoE lets you do. D4 doesn’t let you do that, it gives you an illusion of freedom but every build has already been curated by the developers with legendary aspects.
For real. It’s like saying “Ok guys I played Devil May Cry, I know what makes a great rpg game I swear!”
I have also been playing since early access, I have a level 100 necro on Softcore Eternal, level 100 barb on Hardcore Eternal , and currently level 93 on my seasonal barb. Trust me when I say this game gets stale much faster than PoE. The graphics, sounds, combat etc. are top notch, but it can only go so far, the game needs more substance.
