Hey ya’ll, i re-downloaded diablo 4 on my laptop, im excited for season 4, looks like it should be a good one. My question is, can i transfer the games install files from my laptop to my desktop? I have bad internet at home, it’s good enough to game on but downloading D4 would burn up 80% of my monthly bandwidth allowance all at once.
I do this allot with steam games, and the process to transfer games is pretty straight forward, so fingers crossed it’s the same for blizzard and battle net.
that being said, im far from being an expert on these things, but id say that youll need to reinstall it, as just copy pasting the files wont install the game on your desktop. youll just have a d4 folder.
eventually it will shorten the download/install time on the bnet launcher, but id even say this is to be doubted.
I know you can with WoW.
You can make a copy and try. The worst that can happen is you have to redownload it.

Wouldn’t hurt to try. So you can try this:
Copy+Paste the whole game folder into wherever your choose on your desktop.
Just under the “Install” button on the Battlenet App there will be a message, ‘Already installed? Locate the game.’ Click the ‘Locate the game’ text, pinpoint it to your folder, and see if it works.
This usually works for me when I’m swapping out drives. So it may or may not work, but again, doesn’t hurt to try.

Don’t quote me, I haven’t tried with D4, but…
If you copy the D4 folder (in the Program Files, or Program Files (x86)) to the same place on the new computer, you can have the Luncher locate the game. Once found, you can use the repair utility to scan the files and create anything that is missing. It might even automatically start the repair. If not, you can run it manually.
See if that works.

There’s a handful of support MVPs across all the games. I spend most of my time in SC, SC2, D3 and occasionally WoW.
I lurk around here, but I don’t post very much.

oooh! i didnt know that, so basically once you become an mvp in one of the forums, you basically have it account bound? ^^
hopefully you wont only lurk. s4 is around the corner <3
It’s franchise (game) bound. If we feel we might be able to contribute to a game’s forums, Bliz will tag us as MVPs for that franchise.
For example, I don’t do much in Heroes or WC3R, so I’m not MVP tagged for those forums.
