Training Dummy DPS

Well here is hoping it actually tracks your DPS.

I Got a feeling its just going to be something we can attack and that’s it. :(, not showing our DPS or anything.

Basically like Last Epoch training dummy, useless mostly,
hoping its similar to Lost Ark. (I do know they mentioned you can make it elite/regular/boss) which kind of helps

if you need to track your dps you are already playing ARPGs wrong. but hey, thats just my opinion.

DPS tracking in D4 is not going to change much at all, no real point to it. If you’re blasting mobs= you’re doing damage. If the butchers struggling to kill you, you’re tanking damage.
If you die because you’re covered in goop= more resistance to goop required.

:man_shrugging:t2: simple and effective way to see where you’re at really

yea, dps tracking is essentially very anti-arpg element, you shouldnt have to track dps. this isnt wow.

Agreed, it’s also not elderscrolls online. DPS checks shouldn’t be required at any point of the game. It’s an either “can” or “cannot” clear things.
Adding in to the fact that DPS dummies generally create their own little messy sub faction of sweat…… not one I’m inclined to ever try or even bother joining. See plenty of issues in EsO when DPeenS are being waved about as “requirements for joining X event”.

yep, all dps tracking is a plague on gaming and all it accomplishes is elitism thats just not needed in ARPGS. i can see why dps checks are important in wow and ESO, this game isnt that, this game does not need dps checks.

There will be people in here complaining it is OP and needs to be nerfed… oh wait that is me.

I don’t necessarily have a problem with how you play. It appears to be the polar opposite of min-maxers.

I don’t think one can qualitatively say which is the “right” way to play.

The game should be balanced enough to give players options to play how they want to within reason.

im definitely a min maxer, in d2 i was the guy meticulously calculating break points for cast speed and crit. im 100% a min maxer and i will play it that way, i dont think theres anything good that comes from tracking dps.

Well, to be fair, most of the mechanics people I worked with in D3 found bugs by tracking it.

So, depending on the utility and purpose a DPS dummy can be very helpful. In D3, people were going frame by frame checking breakpoints and working out the mechanics of everything including thorns.

Having more access to tools to understand what is going on with what you decided I think is a win win for most people who want to know.

These are mainly engineers from my exposure to this group of people.

when we will get this training dummy exactly ?

how long do you think its gonna take before people will be like “send screenshot with x million dps to join duriel group” from the time dps tracking is put into the game.

i am a min maxer, im also a strong believer that some builds are stronger and some are weaker, so if you have a cookiecutter rogue and a summon necro, those numbers will be very different, but really it doesnt matter how much dps anyone does as long as duriel is dying.

you enable dps tracking and there will be entire builds that will be blacklisted from groups for not having enough dps for no good reason other than because people are elitist.

Like I said, my take on it comes from mechanics and D3 interaction with the subject matter experts in each of the classes.

I see the utility of it from that standpoint. Understanding snapshotting, if it occurs or doesn’t, how the modifiers are applied. I mean a lot of this is already “figured out” but there are some people who actually enjoy testing this stuff.

Breakpoints with attack speed relative to actual damage taken relative to frames or “heart beats” of a game.

I think it could be very useful for some people and ultimately everyone.

there is no content for this so far

maby when raids come out but it will be more about

checking if anyone have 13k armor and 70 max rez
rather than dps

I had that happen to me a few times in D3 relative to gear.

People wanted to know my sheet dps to determine if I could join the group. But couldn’t compete with the bots

SO yeah, I’ve been on that end of the stick a bit. It doesn’t feel good. That’s for sure.

Can’t people just inspect gear and know if you’re a duriel one shotter? LOL.

They’re right around the corner. They won’t be here in S3, but should come with the 1st expansion. The leaks are saying there’s a raid in Kurast.

Even when raids come out, it’s more of a “can you survive and grind the damage, pick up players who go down and survive doing it” I’ve been testing my necro in high density zones in tier 4, deliberately pulling as many elites as possible, 6-8 elites, no issues. 10-15 elites- becomes a slog.
What you’d be looking at in raids isn’t overall DPS, it will be how classes will synergise with other classes and what they’ll grant. Werewolf howl Druid with the ring- yes please.
Decreptify/ iron maiden pet cro with frost mages, frost burn and deathless scream + reliable procs on freezing enemies= yes please. Supporting acts can make the hard hitting glass cannons jobs easier.
Edit> supporting classes that can debilitate mobs are going to be important due to no class having access to taunts, no tanks, no healers. Just DPS that will have to figure out ways to smooth the path.
I’ve got a saying in EsO- if you can do the mechs, you can do the trial.
Doesn’t matter if you throw down 120k per second, because if you can’t do mechs, you’re a floor queen, and dead dps do no damage.

You can see everyones gear in profile under local, Vamp- just checked

Yeah, lets add heaps of Addons so we are basically playing World Of Diablo
