Tormented Cellars and Hell Gates

These are just 2 ideas to add activities during our walks through out Sanctuary’s surface.

The first one is a way to make Cellars more usefull and engaging. I will call it “Tormented Cellar” to keep the D4 semantics… These special Cellars have at its entrance an aura (visual effects) that symbolises what will you find inside. I imagine 3 types at first.

  • Purple glow: An event that drops 5 times more obols.
  • Red glow: A dungeon boss with garantee Ancient drop.
  • Red glow with impaled bodies around it: “The Butcher’s Den”.

The Butcher’s Den is a new version of the butcher’s room from Diablo 1 and would be the arena to fight a “Tormented” version of the Butcher with many lair traps. Good drops, but not unique to him. He is a chance encounter.

These Tormented Cellars are supposed to be rare and rewarding so when we see one we are happy to jump in.

The other idea is an addition to the Hell Tides. These “Hell Gates” are half sized dungeons with a free chest at the end. They are supposed to be fast to clear, have high density of mobs and still contribute with Cinders so you have no downsides in doing them. (I didn’t play D4 season 6, so I don’t know if this is similar to the Walker stuff)
I image something like those hell portals from Diablo 2 LoD.
Maybe add a time limit of 2 minutes to get to the end just to spice things up.

i also like the spiced-up cellar idea. seems like a good place to add some more stuff, seeing some indicator on the outside whether specific ones or just a glow to indicate a its 1 of a few different versions, silent cellar maybe like when seeing a silent chest was exciting, maybe also do something to spice up those also.
