Is it just me or is there absolutely no point in solo play after pit 61. I’m running a double swing twister barb, max resistance, max armor, 90,000 dmg base, million dmg hits and am one shot CONSTANTLY in any endgame play. Try to do tormented (whoever) boss, slay to first potion break and… one shot. Walk into my highest pit (73) i get one shot at the first elite group. I’m a long time player, been with blizz and diablo since inception. I even worked to the top 1000 of one of the D3 lists at one point AND I’M LOSING THE WILL FOR THIS GAME! Thoughts?
Above 61 is just more tier 3 materials so you can craft faster, more, or just a flex but with no in-game leaderboards that flex is pretty awful.
I dont understand what the problem is. You hit Pit 61. You won. You’re not required to go further.
Barb can get up to pit 101 easily enough, but it’ll take some work. The first obstacle is getting one-shot. You’ve gotten your armor up to 9230… resistances at least 70%… if you’re having trouble surviving, you need more damage reduction and/or other defenses such as barrier. What are your defensive aspects?
Even druid can solo tormented bosses. Barb can do it a lot easier. You’re gonna need to be able to push pit into 80s/90s.
Something sounds off about this, as your max level barb should easily be clearing 100+ pits. I grind 105 on my RF Rogue just to collect mats for masterworking, which is ostensibly the only reason to run them. Have you min/maxed everything for your build?
Yes and no… in my mind I’ve “beat” the game when i have a tormented Lilith killer.
My resistances are 70% and green and tell me I’m -15% over the requirements for the -50% torment difficulty. My armor is WAAAY over maxed (21k) with the strength attribute at 1,800. Life is at 56,000. Shako, twin strikes, tassets of dawning sky, yens blessing, Rams magnum opus, ring of starless. On aspects I’m running numbing wrath voracious rage, windlasher, fierce winds and rapid aspect. All gear is 8/12, some are 9/12. Not all are max roll, some closer than others.
And don’t get me wrong, I’m enjoying the game i just feel like my ultimate farm character should be able to solo Lilith by now.
I guess my simplified question is, was there an obvious breakpoint when you knew you could take out the tormented bosses?
When i felt invincible in Pit 61+.
Like i could stand there and not die to non-Elite mobs for 60 seconds straight
Fair… do you mind me asking about how many hours you have on that char?
Yeah. When my barb was farming pit 91, I knew I could kill Tormented bosses. I had to die a couple times because I didn’t research the fights. I learned duriel and andariel on the spot.
I tried when my druid was farming pit 60s… and I wasn’t ready. My damage was too low.
Get rid of numbing wrath. There are other ways to get fortify. My barb used iron skin and challenging shout for defense, with some bonus defense from war cry and guttural yell. I used aspect of iron warrior on my amulet. I think I was using might and undying as well, for my bash build.
Get your armor closer to 9300. You’re killing yourself by having all that extra armor where you could have damage or defenses that will actually function.
You’ll probably need to ramp up your damage output significantly. I think you said you’re hitting for 1mil? My bash was ranging from a couple mil to 20+.
With all of that, I was able to solo farm tormented duriel/andariel (easier than duo), but i did not kill echo of lilith.
You probably don’t really have enough time left to make the needed changes, this season. Food for thought for S5.
Yeah, I’ve given up for this season completion but this barb easily tops what i had in eternal anyways. And to be fair, I’m obv not following a build sheet or anything I’m more just grinding till something works.
I’ll try out some of those aspects in a bit and see how warm the pit feels. My gf keeps giving me world boss countdowns rn, lol.
I didn’t follow any guides this season. It was great. I played what i wanted to play. Then when i hit a hard wall, i switched over to the top- performing skill and made my own build around it.
Getting a deep understanding of the paragon board and spending a little too much time on it really pays off.
Exactly! This game really is better when it’s your version of a build. I know others will always have something better but this one will be mine, ya know? So long as it’ll do it all and be the hero for new characters.
Trying the swap from numbing wrath to iron warrior now on t73.
Less than you’d think. Maybe 30h? Its hard to say since a lot of the gear came from my Sorc i was playing with the wife.
But basically its a Necro minion build focused on Shadow. Homebrew because thats the only way to play. Once i hit 9230 armor and 70% resists I went dodge Dodge DODGE. I couldnt believe you could add Dodge via Tempering!
60% dodge with the Aspects that Fortify you and heal you for 20% of your health every time you dodge. Between the minions and the dodge-heals i could clear a Pit and play a melody on the piano at the same time. It was slow, but it was functional.
Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.
I’m so down for diablo build TED talks it sounds like these defenses are really the creative portion. Like the idea of dodge instead of outright defense too.
Edit. Update.
@hex-1532 … that iron warriors was it. Nearly beat it with 5 to spare my first attempt when i heard this giant blech behind me only to see my young pit covered in shepherd puke. Real life acid splash.
Took care of my dogs damage over time effects with a little towel attack and quick bath strike. settled in and killed 73 in no time.
Appreciate all of ya!
