Torment 4 might not be for you and that is okay

I am seeing a lot of talk on streamer chat, forums, and reddit that they are against having Torment 4 being harder (as the try-hards are asking for it to be harder).

People should know that you do NOT have to do Torment 4 like you have to do Tier 4 today. Torment 1 and Torment 4 drops the exact same loot.

If you are a casual that normally has a hard time fighting Uber Lilith or Tormented Bosses, this is the tier for you where you still get the same content, but at your pace (and even faster).

Torment 2, 3, and especially 4, are only about the difficulty (Note, I do know that your drop chances are increased based on the torment level, but it’s not night and day difference).

Ah yes but the there will be MORE loot and a better chance at good loot on Torment 4.

Therefore that’s what everyone is going to aim at - especially since the devs indicated their endgame focus and their desire to speed up everyone’s progression to it.

If the majority get stumped on the way to T4, that’s going to be a failure.

Well, if you want more loot and better chance at good loot, you should improve oneself and get the better gear and move up within the torments. Otherwise, the couch dads can do Torment 1 and still get the same loot and a quicker pace and less obstacles.

With Torment 1 or 2, you can do now Uber Lilith without much effort and “tormented” bosses (since all bosses are now higher level).

Agreed OP, in fact I think they should invest into updating/upgrading mobs with extra traits and whatnot

Like, it’s perfectly fine if the hardest diff is not “farmable”, in fact would consider it as recommended also

If you are wanting to play a game genre involving “skill” you certainly shouldn’t be citing “ARPGs” as such. These games are about understanding systems, not skill based actions.

Just because a bunch of you have convinced yourselves that’s not the case doesn’t make it so. I say that as a player that has done all the game has to offer aside from Hatred’s Chosen.

There is publicity, feasibility, and there’s longevity also

If T4 does not “stand”, what’s the point of redoing the whole journey/process at all ? :person_shrugging: (if it’s gonna be the same as it was)

The only thing I think they should change is not rely so much on scaling and “redo” the T3/4 mobs (doesn’t have to be right now or today, but over time make sure it works)

Have an extra augmentation here and there or have an ability - like the Fly Host now has a Blight cast for example… I’d recommend that over time they also add more and more there in terms of mob-upgrade works

Imo torment tiers should be a bit harder than they currently are. They feel too easy there’s nothing “torment” about them lol

I’ll give you the real answer:

So that they can sell more units and BP’s for less effort.

The game has been out over a year and I’m sorry these topics are just hilarious to me. It’s very WoW like in its’ context.

All it is really is hollow elitism in a game that is pretty much only single player and about collecting gear upgrades. I was more than happy to slap on leaderboard/Zenith titles so I didn’t have to deposit any mats into whatever seasonal mechanic altar existed lol. Worked every time because people had this illusion I was just some amazing player.

Why so much of the community confuses “playing a lot” and understanding the game’s basic systems so you can be efficient and don’t have to play a lot with “skill” has always given me a chuckle. T4 will be reached and farmed by anyone with a modicum of interest in it. Personally I think the game needs something like the secret LE boots.

Edit- “Masochist’s Regalia” unique helm/chest. “Increases your dmg taken by X% (increases by torment level), reduces your dmg done by X%.”

Set-Reduces hp/armor/all resist by X%. Or I can make it fun, all enemy abilities are one shots and must be dodged. Increases evade charges by 2.

Don’t ruin it for him! These guys think diablo games take skill.

It’s going to take about a week before the devs look at the metrics and see 99% of the groups are running T4. They want more people grouping. Therefore they will ensure everyone gets into T4.

Tbh I think most build are going to be able to handle t4 just fine

Yeah it’s fine T4 isn’t for everyone. It shouldn’t be. Otherwise these changes were a waste of time.

Still, I had a chuckle today when Rax yesterday was talking about how easy it is to blast to there. Then today he tried to speed run with an untwinked character, but was stuck farming tier 1 bosses because he couldn’t find gear and tier 2 was too hard.

Diablo 2 and Diablo 3 were never really about being difficult. Once you’re geared enough, the goal is to breeze through content. Diablo should focus on looting, experimenting with different builds, and, most importantly, having fun. If they want challenging content, it should be in the endgame, like they tried with Season 1’s NMD before the nerfs and with the pits. But here’s the thing: players prefer Infernal Hordes because it’s rewarding, and most builds can handle T7. Creating something like Pit 200 and not expecting people to beat it only benefits the developers—it helps them spot bugged or overpowered builds. But for players, it’s just frustrating trying to push through the current pits.

My lightning sorc was buff AF. Right now, I can’t even solo T4 Lilith. I don’t have 300 paragons tho and my glyphs are only Lv 50.

I don’t know how anyone can make such sweeping generalizations when:

  • Runestones haven’t been turned on yet on the PTR – it’s supposed to add another layer of power. That is happening on Friday;
  • Many of the streamers (at least as one Day 1) weren’t quite at Paragon 200 yet (Wudi was running in the 70’s in one video). By Paragon 300, you should’ve chewed through most of the meaty upgrades on 5 boards.

Incorrect he was talking about how easy it was to blast in t3

Not yesterday nor in his video.

I watched his video and his stream it was t3 he was crushing and t4 was challenging

If you are running a B tier build, you can feel the difference between T3 and T4. Of course, if you are running S tier, the torment level doesn’t matter much.

He said the blasters like him will steamroll tier 4. I heard it live.
