What is the best solo Single target Boss build For Necro? Currently running p4wnyhof’s “S3 #1 Necro Everything - Black River + Bone Spear” build. But it lacks in the single target Boss farming area.
Thoughts?

What’s the point of Black River in a Bone Spear build?
Just focus on strengthening Bone Spear and you will shred bosses.

That’s only awesome on AoE on dungeons… elites+mobs. That’s the scenario where corpses littered all over the floor. On Black River-bone spear build, it uses corpses to replenish Essences. Since Corpse Explosion is so powerful on Season 3, might as well max-it out with Black River / Fueled by Death.
But on Single Targets like Bosses with long hp, there would be less Corpses. Black River would not be useful on such fights. I do Blood Lance with Black River… only on AoE for dungeons/helltide. I dont use Black River on Boss fights. I replace it with a regular 1H weapon with an aspect pwerful with Single Targets. I sometimes empty my Corpse Explosion points and put it somewhere else that buffs Single Target DPS on Boss fights.

It’s probably for flavor. It’s not like any existing content requires mix-maxing or playing optimally, heh.
I suppose it could be because each consume from Black River counts for stuff like Flesh Eater and Grim Harvest. You shouldn’t need it for either purpose on a geared out/leveled character though. Maybe during leveling prior to acquiring decent resource aspects, Sac Soul and/or Starless. Outside that…eh…

I play blood surge necro and with zero ubers i clear bosses and dungeons fine (really fine).

Running overpower blood lance w/ mutilator plate and level 15 glyphs. Probably not as strong as bone spear mathematically, but made easy work of Malphas and T100 vaults. With essence gain from a ring, paragon board, and the robot I don’t run out. Pew pew pew!
And why bone spear in the end game would ever had a problem with essence? (just curious). I have single “essence accelerator” 
- x162% increase essence regeneration on crit. I did not need essence generator even before I got Shako. Alternative way - 30-50 essence on lucky hit but either way popping corpses its more like run speed accelerator.
In S3 I don’t think you have any alternative but vanilla Bone Spear with Lidless and Shielding storm. Problem with Black River you are giving up valuable aspect slot for questionable effect. Bone spear necro still one trick pony its not THAT hard to prop damage up high with CC/Vulnerable damage/Crit Chance/Crit Chance - trick was to survive. With bot DR boost, stacking DR on the gear (along with high HP), desobidence and ideally perma shielding storm (with maxed resistances) problem been more or less mitigated
Before you get to that point, your Essence generators are weak. The easiest Essence generator even for noobs are those Corpses. At high end, you would never need the Corpse as Essence generators.
But on Vault NM100 dungeon, the Bone Spear with Black River max rank Corpse Explosions would outspeed you on clearing them. Let’s see when the Leadeboards come. Let’s see who’s faster.

depends on layout of dungeon … spars mob placement and black river won’t perform well
It doesnt depend on the layout of the dungeon as the Necro would just position at the center and kill all mobs approaching the Corpse Explosions Radius. We will see.
Bone spear not relying on CE to kill anything 
the only use of CE give you 15% run speed boost but that is all about it. Based on vanilla of S3 - we are relying on making everything vulnerable (bot+serration), getting as close as possible to perma 100% crit chance and keeping everything with flag “crowd controlled” (hello Decri curse 
). Everything else is gravy
The Sacrilegious Ring makes CE automatic. It auto detonates and auto kills most nearby mobs. The only the Necro needs to shoot are those on Range outside the CE radius. With you not on Black River CE, you have to shoot everything… if you missed, you have to correct your aim and shoot again. Let’s see who’s faster on clearing on Leaderboard.
Here is problem with it
- CE don’t crit - Bone Spear Does ~100% chance (not that hard to get)
- Ring do actually something else (and that a lot more important) it give you 2x speed for Grasping Vein refresh timer - every 8s from the ring and depends on skill level with your actual skill. It’s also popping up corpses every 1s within screen which not preventing you from manually popping corpses (should you need that). Thus Black River have a good chance to deprive you from having higher Crit Chance (due to shortage of Grasping veins up time)
CE can crit. It can’t with BCE because it becomes a DoT and those cannot crit.
Your second consideration is relevant in low density scenarios such as bosses.
Where it gets questionable is whether it yields any relevant benefit. Bone Spear by itself deletes the screen. It doesn’t need anything extra to achieve this result. Best case those CE casts going out clean up anything you fail to obliterate with spears. But… odds are mobs killed this way would get rolled by subsequent spears/shards anyway.
Honestly, none of this probably matters in nearly any of the content. Run “pure” Bone Spear or run it with CE+Black River. The result will be the same. Everything gets curbstomped in seconds. Toss in Lidless for borderline immortality when storms are generating barrier if you want to make the game even more faceroll.
I would expect the Black River/CE concept to be a little worse on bossing though. Not that you’d notice it.
It does serve as cool video clickbait though. Slap Black River/CE in the mix, act like you discovered something revolutionary, give it a catchy name, pretend it’s super awesome. Yawn…
