TOP 10 Ways to SAVE D4 🙏

This game has many issues. We all know it. WE need D4 to be saved. D4 should be the best ARPG out there. Its got the legacy and its got the loyal playerbase. It just doesnt have the a long term vision. Its very short sighted and jumpy decisions upending everything that came before it. No good. Lets get a plan in place!

1] Bug crush. Nothing else matters if the game doesnt work. Get the game in working order. No more wondering what passives work and what skills and what items. Get it done. Whatever it takes. Should not take community and streamers and 57 messages and 3 tries to fix one ring. Devs should be doing this themselves on every single passive and aspect and item and skill in the game. We are not beta testers.

2] Remove all multipliers. Game will be so much easier to balance. WE can aim for millions as top dps goal. Monster life can be adjusted. Skill damage can be based mainly on ranks and paragon. Aspects are now much more free to change gameplay in interesting ways like frost meteors instead of everyone just stacking multipliers.

3] Embrace RNG. PPL like having chances for cool things to happen. It breaks up monotony and makes things interesting. They would do this for everything. Events, pits, dungeons, helltides, ect. The suffix and prefix system. I give 2 examples below:

Quad Horde of Missing Spires [10 waves]
Quad - 4 choices of modifiers instead of 3. Legendary prefix.
Missing Spires - Horde does not have spire modifiers. Rare suffix.

Butchers Pit of Elixirs
Butcher - Pit contains 1 butcher that drops items and gives a large completion bonus. - Unique prefix.
Elixirs - Boss drops 3 extra random elixirs. - Magic suffix.

4] Ensure a fair experience. You have to stop duping. You just have to. Duping ruins the season economy and many players trade. Everything is tradable except mythics. Also have to get balance under control so players can play how they want with different skills and at least get to pit 100.

5] Revamp Skill Tree. Its boring. Very little choice. Same passives are picked season after season. Other Arpg are light years ahead of you here. Our current skill tree looks like it belongs in 2004. You really want to spice up things have us pick secondary hero at level 60. This lets you pick 1 skill from another hero for hotbar slot 7.

6] Make season pop. WE cant just have every season be ? powers, ? powers, ? powers guys. You have got to mix things up and make it fresh. Look to really change the game rules and make players go oh wow that looks crazy! Stuff like uniques can have an aspect, or play as a goblin and escape other playes to gain more loot from gobs you kill, or your pet now has an attack and different pets have different skills, ect. Make it nuts. That is what seasons are supposed to do.

7] Release Mid season content. The current view of Bliz on this is no but it needs to change. You need something in mid season to keep season going. This was key in S2 with AoZ. As bad as AoZ was it was something to do and another way to level glyphs.

8] Add more to game permanently. We have gotten very little here. Hordes were a massive success. WE need more stuff added to the game permanently like this.

9] Ramp up Quality of Life. Here is another top 10 list.
A] 200% movespeed in friendly areas.
B] No delay on portaling or make it 0.5seconds.
C] Inventory size increased 50% to 100%.
D] More storage unlockable.
E] White and blue items removed from game. Replaced with rare drop.
F] Pet faster and radius collect bigger and also collects PVP dust too.
G] Can keep previous rolls on tempering just like enchanter. Consistency increase!
H] Purchasable services from Blacksmith. Can toggle on / off.
1] Auto dismantle all non GA items. -
2] Auto dismantle all 1 GA or worse items.
3] Auto dismantle all 2 GA or worse items.
I] Guilds improved. Should mean much more.
J] Can combine stygian stone and 5 tributes to make epic tribute. This has the rewards of 5 tributes at the end. Speeds these up because they build up fast and you can end a season with a hundred of them.

10] Fix unused content. So much already in the game that is skipped most the time. Cellars. Strongholds, Most side quests. All useless.
Cellars - Changes to appear rarely with ping on map. These would use the prefix and suffix system as mentioned before. Best density of mobs in the game would in cellars.

Strongholds - Become a hub of activity each week. Weekly quests with nice rewards. These could roll rarities too with mythic quests giving out great loot but extra hard. All strongholds could be unified by earning tokens and then vendors sell items for them with different themes in each area such as fractured peaks has many item for Sorcerer. Good stuff like GA guaranteed Starfall Coronet or random items with extra tempers or items with max aspects. So many possibilities.

Side Quests - Lets make rewards interesting here. Maybe rare with 4 affixes but these affixes are not top tier. Maybe completed quests in an area give you magic find in that area. Maybe completing an entire area quests gives you a blacksmith temper scroll usable even on items that have already had a scroll used on. There is so much you could do here to spice up content already in the game.

  1. Not that important. It’s more important for them to test for bugs themselves and not have a ptr. The main problem is some people are able to discover bugs in advance through a ptr and use them all season. Also allows people to solve or at least get way ahead in knowledge in the patch before it even releases. This makes the game boring for everyone. This will be even more important now that there may be leaderboards.

  2. Most important change. Doesn’t have to be every multiplier but nearly all would be good. Zero multipliers may be boring and no arpg gets rid of all.

  4. Getting duping under control is important but balance is not. The patch has to not be solved before the patch releases so the imbalances are not immediately exploited. Having it balanced isn’t possible and doesn’t matter and discovering imbalances first or for yourself can be quite fun indeed.

  9. Some are good. Would much prefer blues and yellows to have a purpose rather than be removed. Make higher rarity items essentially the best so people can just look at those if they want but give yellows and blues a way to be better on a “one in a trillion roll” or under special circumstances. So that way the people who want to spend time looking for the best found item ever can do so if they want. Salvaging them for mats is boring.

  10. This would be fantastic. Didn’t read the suggestions but the world is basically never used or explored.

The list has some merit but is not exhaustive and missing some very important things.

The problem is that stacking flat damage becomes detrimental.

Adding +10 damage when you have 100 is a 10% increase.

Adding +10 damage when you have 1000 is a 1% increase.

Now when you get 10,000 base damage? +10 becomes meaningless.

But 10% always confers the same amount of power. You know exactly what you’re getting.

Multipliers aren’t the issue; it’s when multipliers get applied to each other when problems arise. If all multipliers applied only to the base values, it would eliminate many things.

I mean I agree with most of your points….honestly though I think this game is pretty set in stone now

Outside of expansions and a few tweaks I don’t see them adding much more other than classes and stuff like that. Maybe we get a skill tree overhaul but I’m not holding my breath.

The game’s fine….i just want to beat the snot out of demons

If there’s anything I truly want is more depth to current systems if they keep adding more stuff It will get bloated.

It’s less about them getting out of control and more about them making itemization boring because each multiplier is obviously the best. This would still exist in your proposition. The idea is to have interesting items that excel in certain situations instead of biggest number = always best.

But that’s pretty much every ARPG. 20 is bigger than 10. I’ll take 20, thanks.

You can look at posts here exclaiming an item “isn’t viable” if it rolls low.

As I said - multipliers are fine if they only multiply the base. When they multiply each other, you get exponential growth. That’s the issue, and always will be.

I can recall posts vehemently decrying Vulnerable being obscene and the “solution” was proposing caps and merging damage buckets. That happened, and it didn’t fix a damn thing. Multipliers still function off each other.

No. On a lot of this.

Look, you and I have not agreed a LOT of the time but you have had good input in my opinion. They are moving the game in certain directions and you have become VERY … emotional about it. Fine. I have kind of forked down a different road. I’ll wait… see… but they keep moving opposite of what I want. Fine. I’ll try once in a while but otherwise play other stuff. You have moved in a direction of desperation with trying to force people to feel they are breaking the constitution or some such.

Please consider than instead of your current approach of scaring ANY AND ALL NEWCOMERS that this game is evil incarnate that you could chill out and hold tight and just play other games if needed, etc.

SERIOUSLY, you have been on SUCH a campaign lately that seems to 100% ignore that new players might LIKE all the things you hate so much. I hate a lot too… you and I can express our misgivings but maybe stop trying to convince EVERY newcomer they should insta-hate the game? Chill.

Post got flagged because he obviously cares about the game and constantly coming up with new ideas and ways of how it could do better, opposite to the people whom i bet don’t even play this dumpsterfire and come on the forums to spread their misery and downtalk on people who look at the game with a critical eye…

Alas i think D4 cannot be saved, just close down the developement, and get new people in the creative department and most importantly get people in the executive department who actually care about the aRPG genre and want to make a great game,
instead the ones who can produce the sales charts and numbers and only think about paychecks…
So if they go again and make D5 and go with the same setup, its just gona be the same mistake D4 is/was.

The game has no hype.
It’s community has shrunken from one of the biggest stars into a white dwarf if i want to make a cosmological analogy…
This forum is dead, twitch is dead…hell even the subreddit is as dry as the Sahara desert.
2-3k players on steam, thats like 72k players per day, and don’t get me started with all the bnet numbers BS the numbers are probably just as bad there aswell…
All the streamers who were their free marketing department left the game for good and dont really want to pick it up again…
Maybe console andys and casual gamer dads pick up the game for a week of casual entertainment…so this is it???

Yes. It all seemed to go OTT with the boss mat share / carry issue.

Make a case, sure. Debate, sure.

Campaign? It’s a bit too much for a computer game.

Unless one exists who is all knowing and omnipotent, Sif that exists, try to understand other views? why not.
