Top 10 S10 Horde Spires and other Fixes 👹

99% of the community isnt wrong on spires. They suck still so lets fix it!

1] Spires built in suck enemies. No need to pick this. The choice that had this in it now says Enemies killed in spires have a chance to drop aether and soulspire radius increased by 50%.

2] There is now a legendary choice added that says spires are removed. There is also one that says masses are removed for those seeking a spire run. Any removed event that tries to spawn makes 1 hellborne instead and rolls an event again.

3] New choice - Hellborne Supremency = Rare. Hellborne slowly spawn from spires while open and 2 spawn when closed. Hellborne are unbound. (They are immune to CC and immune to spire sucking effect.)

4] Spires no longer spawn from events if there are 3 or less seconds.

5] Mythical horde added to the game. This horde run is 12 waves long, Bartuc is free and drops double amount of chaos items, and contains a 1000 cost mythical chest which drops 1 mythical item, 3 random legend runes, 6 GA items, 250m gold, and 1 Mythical Elixir. The mythical elixir gives you 100% magic find for 1 hour and stacks with other elixirs.

6] Chaos waves are a bit more rare but do not take a horde round spot. They also dont end if 1 party member dies. All must die. This is way more fun as you always feel good when chaos wave shows up instead of gritting teeth and making your run better for the entire thing.

7] Bartuc is free if your horde went 1500 or over on Aether and you dint die. For party its if the entire party dint die.

8] There is now an event spot in the center. This is a general horde improvement. This spot is more rare than other spots with a 10% chance per spawn to be used.

9] The spire choice that said they show up less but give 2.5x is now they show up more and give 2.5x. This is what was happening anyways and helps make this clear and is a good choice for those seeking spire run.

10] There is now a forgotten souls chest added for 200 and a herb chest for 200.

Sidenote: 1 Change I would like to have seen in chaos items are mythical chaos items. These are the pinnacle of chase for the season. Mythical chaos items can go in any armor slot (Picture is joker card) and have 2 GA at min and other affixes are max.

Or they could just remove spires entirely. However since we’re keeping them in, why not an option to allow them to expand the whole radius of the arena, but take twice as many enemies to get rid of.

Iggi, from both sides of the plate!

They need to be how they were, or have auto suck or just be removed all together. My choice would be to just remove them, it feels like an anti fun moment.

Answer honestly, do you really find Spires to be an engaging and fun mechanic?

Like… if someone asked you about D4, and they asked you what you like about it, you’d say, “Spires”?

You wouldn’t would you? So, right there, I just don’t see the point of trying to “fix it” when a better solution is to delete it.

Once the spires have the suck up enemies legendary they arnt bad so if this was built in to start I think the spire issues are mostly solved. They cant have suck up players though I dint like that.

Love the idea of forgotten souls chest of 200 at the end.

Love the spire fix of auto pull in enemies.

Another way to fix spires is to have the player stand in the spire and kill stuff or to have them spawn less if you don’t choose them. You could also have to have 2 players be in the spire on a group so you have to work together.

I have a small sample but I swear they spawn more than other options. If it were an occasional spire I could ignore and they got less and less as the run progressed it would be better and those (the 1%) that want the spire can choose them and they can spawn more.

I don’t think Bartuc needs to be cheaper or free unless he is staying for more than a few months.

Another change would be for chaos waves to stay in nmd and in helltide. They make nmd a lot funner and are better than strong rooms in my opinion.

They aren’t bad isn’t the same as liking the mechanic.

Do you like spires or not. “Not bad” isn’t an answer.

Just admit it would be better if they weren’t in the game damnit

If removed spires would have to be replaced by something. There wouldnt be enough event types in the system. Perhaps they could be replaced by an opposite type of event called fissures where enemies spit out instead.

Spires with built in sucking enemies I think are a perfectly fine. The issue with these are how hard it is sometimes to get enemies inside of them so if they have built in sucking then its fine. Spires are viable and complete quickly with this change.

As they are now removed is better and replaced with new mechanic.
With my change they are fine and should be left in.

Quick rundown of fissure event without negative part.

Base: Fissures appears and 30 enemies spew out and then portal is gone. Kill all the enemies to get reward. Gives 1 aether per 10 enemies killed at location of last killed enemy. Fissures are different in that they are events that do not take up event spots. They spawn the enemies and close.

Common: Not So Secret Invasion - Wave start spawn 2 fissures. Wont appear once selected twice.
Common: Fissure Transmutation - Fissures give +1 Aether per 10 killed fissure enemies. Stacks with itself.
Common: Fissure Borne - 2-3 Hell borne also spawn from fissures. Stacks with itself.
Common: Fissure Goblins - Aether Goblins can now rarely spawn as fissure enemies. Once selected wont appear again.

Rare: No Rest for the Wicked - 30 Additional fissure enemies spawn. Stacks with itself.
Rare: Fissure Lords - An Aether Lord appears every 30 fissure enemies killed. Wont
appear after selected.
Rare: Massularity - Masses have a chance to collapse into fissures on birth. This counts as defeating the mass.

Legendary: Hell Fault - Fissure appears in the center and is permanent making 30 enemies every 5-10s. Final wave at the end it closes and spawns fissure butcher (100 aether + 5 per closed fissure in run). Wont appear again if selected.

The Spire concept in the Open World needs to be changed to be double the size but once you start the event, you cannot leave it. There is an impenatrable barrier that only comes down if you die, the timer expires and you fail to complete it, or you successfully complete it.

The Spires in IH need to just be removed. There is not making them fun. Anything that slows the pace is a bad.

For the IH upgrades there should always be 2 options that increase the difficulty and give you more Aether and one option that is a buff and does not give you more Aether. Options that pop up should have a higher chance to pertain to your previous selections. You pick Aether Mass spawns at beginning, and the next Wave Aether Mass has chance to regrow is more likely and eventually Aether Lords etc. You should also not have to physically walk over Aether but it get added to your count each Wave automatically.

I agree with this part.

Imagine a Freaky Friday pick where players take control over each others characters.
Give players a taste of a different build they might not have played before, give that little itch to create a new character or try a new build. Might need to be removed from Hardcore but sounds neat to me.

Did u post in the wrong thread? This is about hordes not switching characters. That would be a nightmare as you could take their character and then delete all their items.

Why would they design it like that lol. I mean yeah, these devs, but no obviously don’t give the players control of dropping gear and porting out wtf. Just let players take control of each others build for a wave.

I dont see this being useful or contributing to the horde enjoyment. This is something that you can just create an alt for. Taking control of another character creates a massive headache and mess to prevent as you have to prevent all of this:

any trading
removing glyphs
deleting items
moving items in stash
dropping items on ground
masterworking
tempering
spending obals
changing favorite waypoint
spending barter marks
spending cinders
spending boss mats

The list is endless on what you have to prevent. Its not worth it and players would hate it.

There is no real benefit to this that outweights the pitfalls. Alts are not hard to make and how is this going to contribute to horde run score?

I think it’s a brilliant idea.
Now how much they need to really tweak for it to work, don’t know, but certainly half that list or more is irrelevant.
Port out? Back to your own character.
Disable trading inside of the Horde. Disable accessing the character menu when swapped.

I think it would be a spicy wave taking control of a completely different build and would give players just enough taste of a different build to maybe push them over the edge into creating that new alt.

But buddy, after seeing you champion for Chaos Armor to be made permanent for a month leading up to its release only to see you crying about it in a hundred different threads after it launched. I’m going to have to say you’re not very tuned in.

Its an awful idea. It does nothing for horde score. It creates a massive amount of pitfalls and potential bugs just so ppl can experience another build? This is an insane way to go about encouraging ppl to see another build and if implemented would created some of the biggest blowback in the history of the game. Players dont want to lose control of their character. Get a clue. I am no longer responding to you in this post. You are so wrong on this is completely baffling to me you think this is an awesome idea.

Chaos armor should be permanent and brought to eternal. I stand by that. It fits better in eternal where the massive amount of loot hunt and RNG is ok because the items stay. Its not working great in season so far and the forums are proving it.

Bloody number crunchers. Games are supposed to be fun.
Oh no the aether count ohhh the inconvenience of swapping characters for 60 secs.

Yes I believe it would be fun to occasionally take control of one anothers builds without having to grind an entire alt character. Not only would it be fun but if it encourages people into creating alts because they liked what they got a taste of then the game gets more engagement.

Fun Wave + Engagement = Positive.

Suddenly players are seeking out others on forums or in game ‘anyone running this build, want to run a horde with me to see if I can try it out’.

You only narrow mindedly think about the aether count, pft.

The game needs more creative ideas like this and less ‘recycle how to make the same build with pants on your head’.

I will respond one more time just to tell you that nobody is going to magically know how to play a new build thrust into it for 60 seconds. You are also assuming every single build that enters the horde is a finished product. ITs not. There will be hordes starting on T1 and 2 and 3 and even 4 where build is not done and character is a mess. ITs a preposterous idea that might just kill the entire party with 4 ppl sitting there not knowing what they are doing and I more inclined to think you threw this out there as bait. Nobody would ever suggest losing control of character as a horde option that gives no reward to the devs that cant multiply 1000 by 40%. Leader picks this in party the entire party is just gong to leave and ban that player permanently. Its utterly rediculous.

Where is IGGI to post his thoughts!

@summon the goat please!

K now I am done for sure 100%!

You’re done? Or are you going to edit the comment two dozen times before you finish?

Devs could easily boost rewards to go with this option.
And what game are you talking about?

This is Diablo 4, every build 1 shots. Mobs pose no threat almost ever.
There’s 6 Buttons to press.

You think the audience is to dumb to press 6 different buttons to see which button 1 shots all the enemies in Diablo 4?

Lol.
You’re the one who is wrong, this is a great idea for a Horde modifier and I stand by that.
