Tooltip Inconsistencies

Since the beginning of this game the tooltip is full of inconsistencies.

I know I’m not the first to talk about it, but damn, devs, when we talk about this, at least do something to fix…

I converted all my minions to shadow damage, but when I add shadow damage in my gear the tooltip shows the damage decreasing instead of increasing.

That aspect that gives “x% damage to elements” that spins through cold, shadow and on the other side, physical and whatever doesn’t seems to be calculating the right thing in the character.

As i said, my minions are shadow damage but the tooltip of this aspect calculates it as physical and only increases the numbers for phys but when I look at the numbers at the screem it seems to be calculating shadow…

How can you prepare your character and know exactly what is happening to him if the tool that is there to give you the information is completely wrong?

Small company with very little resources.

I feel you. Basically all the tooltips and keywords need an audit but also it seems like the UI is not fully in line with reality. Ideally all this stuff would come from some sort fo master config and get fed into both the damage calculations and the UI from the same source, so if you saw a damage type or a % amount in one place it would always be representative of reality. That does not seem to be the case.

I have been testing out some builds and when sometimes it gets more confusing I end up in training grounds for a while and then sometimes I will make a post in PC bug section. If you have something concrete you can do the same but sometimes it is harder to nail things down. I do not know how closely that is monitored but it is an apparent channel to maybe get picked up for their own bug logging/tracking.

I did a lot of necro last year and found a lot of funky interactions with minions some of which might still be there and you might rerunning into them. Minions are supposed to inherit most stats now but there can be some odd things in play with stuff like snapshotting or damage conversion. It causes me to end up avoiding some more complex builds sometimes which is unfortunate. Not sure if you might want to do the same. When in doubt, slapping baddies with a stick (mostly) still works.

Reapers are Darkness not Shadow as is Iron Golem. Darkness like Corrupting, is a variation of Shadow. It gets weird but generally Shadow damage will enhance these two. I have the Wither Paragon Board, that if you activate it; grants your Shadow damage a 20% chance at 300% increased damage. She has Doombringer and The Gloom Ward for extra Shadow damage help, all that can I put Shadow damage on as it buffs Darkness and Corrupting together. See if it helps your Necro out.

My Abyss Warlock has similar but she has additionally an Aspect - Fathomless Dark which turns her Shadow resistance into more damage as well, pity the Necro has not got similar
