The game has too much unavoidable dmg. If I stop for 2 seconds to fire my bow, the mobs bumrush me. This is especially true about dungeon bosses. I have to face tank them to get any kind of dmg off. Mobs weren’t this aggressive about getting into melee range in previous diablo games. Caltrops hold regular mobs at bay for a few seconds, but bosses are always in my face, chunking my hp.
Yeah, you’re absolutely right.
While some things are avoidable. Much of it isn’t and you’re expected to be able to soak the damage or die. This also means you have to kill very quickly in order to defend yourself. The way the game is designed the best defense is often a great offense. Kill things before you run out of resources.
I’m sure some people will come in here and tell you to “git gud” and that everything is avoidable, but it’s simply not the case, and many of the top ARPG streamers pointed out the fact that there is a lot of unavoidable damage in the game, that seems like you’re supposed to be able to avoid but don’t have the ability to do so.
I still say it’s a gear issues being lvl 25-26 still using lvl 13 gear then going to kill some lvl 35 people just to get lvl 24 gear it sucks
there were 2 bosses where it really felt like they were just completely unfair to melee because of how hard their regular auto attacks hit me
Seems like they’re not designing dungeons to be a one build fits all solution. I’ve had to juggle a couple of times to conform to the enemy patterns. Changed from Bear druid to Wolf druid for one boss just because it had too much health regen for me to keep up unless I had the poison going. On my sorcerer, I’ve bounced between fire, lightning and frost a couple of times depending on what I’m fighting.
Take a look at what you’re up against, and what skills you have. If you can’t buy a second to get a shot off, focus on skills that don’t rely on holding still. Like my fire mage for instance uses hydras and comets. I can kite while casting without stopping. And if I need to, I pop fire shield to buy me a few seconds before I dodge.
Observe and react accordingly. Change your tactics to fit the situation you’re presented with.
With my barbarian I feel like most enemies are ranged (not all of course) and if I get close they constantly move away, Im always chasing things. Or they are difficult to hit with itty-bitty hit boxes like the tiny spiders.
Another problem is being in small room that fills with 30 mobs from a booby trap and the exits are blocked. That needs to stop right now.
I still hate the fact that enemy tracking will make them turn 180 when you dash through them. Even while they are in attack animation. It’s not that the attacks are unavoidable. It’s the fact that enemy auto aim, auto lock, and auto damage the players with no drawbacks.
Diablo isn’t a Souls Game. It’s always been a gear-check game.
i aggree some bosses dish out insane dmg some are nearby 1 shoots all 2-3 seconds and then they spawn more and more mobs. as mage this is deadly
