Let’s say the game wants you to get an upgraded item drop once per hour (or insert time frame here).
You can do that by having 300 trash legendary/rare/etc items drop in that same duration of time, making the process of inspecting them all highly annoying and time consuming, and making item drops start to feel like more of an annoyance, and making it hardly exciting to see an item drop at all.
Or you can do that by having about 10 trash legendary/rare/etc items drop in that same amount of time, which
- making item drops start to feel exciting again like it used to feel in diablo 2.
- reducing annoyance
- reducing time spent looking at trash to make sure it’s trash
At this point so many trash legendary items drop, it’s hardly exciting at all when an item drops, but rather annoying b/c you know you have to look at it to make sure it’s trash, and 99 times out of 100 it’s trash.
Common sense:
Change it so that you get upgraded items/hour you think is appropriate, but that only about 10 trash items drop in the same amount of time, for all the benefits mentioned above.

how much you grind in an hour is not the same as how much I or anyone else grinds in an hour. time frames are not the deciding factor. Remember. in games you are in a casino essentially, hitting the slots for a new item and hopefully you hit a decent mini jackpot or hit the actual jackpot. how long you walk around the casino never helps your odds. Even then it is based on perspective cause you are technically super lucky to hit the worst possible odds just as you are super lucky to hit the best odds too. Both are technically lucky. One just feels better.

However they want to design it. 299 out of 300 items you find being trash hurts the game the way I mentioned above.
So granted some find items faster than others. But the ratio of trash items to items that are an upgrade is what needs to be addressed.

100% agree. Given the stars make it “easier” to check and theyve made yellow gear even less useful…
But now it seems both drops 10 times more often… So while I can look at items faster i still spend.even more time going rhrough all the trash… i either have to leave entire screens full of yellows or teleport back to town 2 or 3 times as often to salvage them all.
Even aspect hunting require no grind cause you just give so dang many… In less time then it took to level up my glyphs to 15, I had every aspect for my class maxed out and a few for other classes maxed or near max too… Talk about trash, playing a necro and constantly getting legos with warrior only aspects.
What happened to loot grinding?
I guess now instead of Diablo style grinding to find cool gear. Its constanly grinding up gear with none stop trips to salavge…
It seems you are upset you are not getting a perfect set of gear cause the game is currently running off a meta for gear making everyone play certain styles. I understand that sentiment. I totally agree that you should not be forced to play a certain class or have to play each class a certain way. Way more fun when there are multiple ways to play a game. Supposedly they are adding more legendary gear next season or something like that.
I feel that at the moment when it comes to the bosses look at them like a ladder. when you do that it just needs more rungs so you can step up more rather than making such large jumps to climb the ladder of bosses. Doing that would mean needing more gear and it would make it so you could regear more often since you would have even more levels of power added

Adding more legendaries and more uniques only make the problem WORSE.
They need to drop less gear and less often.
I’ve yet found a gear item that doesn’t benfit me. Wearing and black smith are only 2 options for the player. “Trash items” is more on the player mind thinking than desgin problem. By becoming upset anything can set a person off making the expereince that more awful to play. Expectations is at fault here to fix this for a better playing expereince a person has to take breaks or lower thier expectation from high.
The annoyance comes from the player not game items. The game is desgin to be challening so fraustraion is acceptible but too much of it is a red flag.
There are too many trash drops in season 6. Regardless of the analogies about casinos or whatever it is simply not fun however you spin it. What is incentive producing are more items with greater affixes, not hundreds or even thousands of crap legendaries which are just salvage material or gold fodder. I would rather get good gold from infernal hordes and the same goes for masterworking mats. Nightmare dungeons are a waste of time and should be disposed of and just use the pit to cover the same ground it does now plus what nightmare dungeons are supposed to do, also ditch the “Realmwalker”.
