Tons of Lag, Freezing, Stuttering

I was experiencing some lag already, but after entering the city and online area, the lag has gotten horribly bad. Very stuttery, sometimes sounds go in and out and game freezes a lot. I know this is Early Access Beta, but there’s TONS of optimization that’s going to be needed before release. Friends of mine having the same issue, and we have newer gaming pc’s more than capable of handling a game like this on high settings with no issues, but we’re having tons of issues. Playing with the graphics helps nothing, it makes no difference, so, assuming this is all needed game/server optimization.

I’m having the same issue, mostly with it freezing up. I know it’s the game because if it were overheating the whole computer would freeze up. After 30 seconds or so the game work again and it would glitch real fast to present time in the game. Usually dead =D

Here too. Too much stuttering to fight bosses and huge crowds. Character will run in place and then suddenly die.

I found that I had intense lag spikes whenever the game decided to randomly make me encounter another player in the world. About half the time this occurs when I am surrounded by enemies, leading to quite a few deaths. I really wish encountering players outside of towns was optional due to this issue. Once other players are loaded in things run smoothly, but the initial process of jamming them into my game just breaks the flow and potentially makes Hardcore play impossible.

The VRAM being saturated to the extreme and beyond is the root cause of the issues you experienced. Even 24GB VRAM is not enough for the damn game and will fill it up quickly and rubberband like crazy.

This! I agree it has to be the game server causing the lag, as my computer has 32 GB RAM and D4 Beta is 100x slower than any other games. I feel like I am Ice Skating running around… and the worst part is trying to enter a Door just to slide to the other side of the Door, wait for it to catch up to your commands, and go back and forth never entering the door until a minute or 2 later haha. The Beta Server Lag is an Ice Skating game instead of playing Diablo. shrugs

Hii, i am facing the same issue, also to mention that i am playing on Low graphical settings to be able to play… while my specs are:

Intel Core i5-10300H CPU @ 2.50GHz
GeForce GTX 1650 Ti with 4 GB VRAM
RAM 8 GB DDR4
and using HDD

will upgrading the RAM will solve this issue ?
my GPU and CPU are very good to play at least on Medium graphics but almost can play on low :frowning:

I am on a 2080 and encounter this as well. I found that disabling cross play may help. Could give that a try.

For me it stutters and freezes like crazy in world map. But when I enter a dungeon, game is smoother.

I’m still lagging on Medium settings - High isn’t even playable.

try lagofast to reduce lag

It’s way worse in open beta. I can barely fight groups of mobs and bosses without lagging out and the game not registering what I’m doing and I’m still getting hit but I’m not hitting them. It’s really really bad this time around. I really hope this issue is fixed by launch. At some points, it’s literally not playable. Last night’s lag was so bad I stopped playing.

Finally I decided to end my suffering and leave the Beta

I tried every thing to be able to play, even nearly killed all quality for performance.

Just i am unable to play since yesterday after reaching kyovashad city… the game is super laggy their till it crash and stop responding…

for that personally i will never pre order the game and lose 70 EUR for this any how

I hope they will make ACT 1 free to play after release so someone like me can test the game in it best shape and may change my mind and buy it in future.

Best of luck all

Same here. Lag, freezing, stuttering. The game will be totally smooth and then all of a sudden it will stutter for a split second. Seems to happen more in town or when other players are around in the open world. Cut scenes also stutter at the beginning of each new scene.

Intel Core i7-12700KF 3.6GHz
32GB RAM @ 4800 speed
Asus TUF RTX 3080 with latest drivers
Samsung 980 Pro 1TB SSD
Asus Prime Z690-P WiFi with all current drivers installed
All Windows 11 updates installed
Spectrum 300Gbps internet using ethernet, not WiFi

Happy to provide additional info/specs.

The game runs like a dog on a system that can run any game in ultra settings at 4k, reason being is network latency. Ill see you in a year when people are no longer playing the game as much due to the above. Seriously how can I play Rust in max settings with no lag and a game with mediocre graphics and top down crash so much. No one is outraged, typical blizzard fans, acting like a cult saying everything is amazing.
The problem is at their end, not yours - stop posting your system specs.
