A couple months ago I asked what the point of playing D4 and re-gearing in S4 was when expansions usually make existing gear obsolete upon release. We saw that happen in RoS when the max level increased to 70.
And y’all said “nah they said nothing about increasing the level cap in VoH and we just got a Loot patch so it ain’t happening”.
Well…voila! For those who haven’t heard the news yet: our existing gear’s Item Power will be downgraded by about 50% when the expansion or Patch 2.0 hits, and the new max Item Power will be 800, not 925.
Which means all the loot you’ve scavenged since the release of their illustrious Loot Reborn patch is toilet paper. Including the loot you’re wearing now in S5.
While I do like to gloat, I’m not TOO happy…I grieve for the 4 wasted Sparks I spent a couple weeks ago to craft my first Mythic.
BUT…this news just saved me a bunch of cash! This week I was planning to heavily upgrade my rig - it’s gonna happen anyway at some stage but I had decided to do it much sooner than later - in order to hopefully improve performance.
But now it ain’t even worth it. The expansion is still over a month away and the game’s performance is worse than EVER before. And somehow I anticipate Patch 2.0 to prove me wrong and SURPASS the “worse than ever before” bit. It’s a vicious downward spiral at this stage. And I predict it will get eeeeeeven worse with VoH.

is pathetic what they do. I hate D4 after seeing this campfire.

I don’t mind the grinding for new gear again but I don’t understand the point of putting every item down to 540. Why not keep at 800 for eternal realm players? What purpose does it serve to have currents item set to 540?
I’m still going to enjoy season 6, starting over and the hunt for new gear always feel fun but damn, eternal players got wrecked.

if you hate it now, wait till you see the changes to + skill ranks. they will only apply to Ultimate skills.
bye-bye Shakos.

How does a Mythic item like Shako scale down in power when it always drops as max ilvl? Aside from GA, there’s no difference in an S5 Shako vs a S6 one. It’ll still be max ilvl.

I bought the game in season 2 because I thought I could perfect a character for as long as I want. I’m just sick of legacy items by now. I like to play seasons, but I also want to keep my most fun and best characters of the season. This starts to kill every hype for a new season for me as playing and progressing feels meaningless and makes me feel negative about new seasons.

Season 4 has been the best so far. But I don’t understand why people are still playing it. It was literally too easy and honestly got boring so fast… The new hordes are terrible. If it was a constant wave of monsters instead of these stupid wave things… It would be a completely different story. I don’t know why they are so focused on us standing around waiting. Anytime one of those minute wave events would pop up. I would always skip it. I’m not sitting there for a minute killing stuff for a crappy chest. It’s not worth my time. They implement that thinking in everything in Diablo 4… It’s like woke Disney. They need a fire that person

The barb changes are so underwhelming, disappointing and sad.

Why would existing items be downgraded 50% as opposed to just being updated to the new item power of 800?
Any justification for going from 925 to 462?
I said “about 50%”, it’s going down from 925 to 540. almost half.
and they’re doing it to make us waste more time in-game. to sell more battlepasses.
except they’re too stupid to realize that NOT everyone plays seasons and likes wasting their time farming the same crap over and over again. this will turn away a fair amount of players.
starting with myself. I wanted to upgrade my rig this week so I can get back into the game after the recent performance hits. but now I ain’t gonna do it, and the desire to play again is gone.

I feel more like this is their answer to build templates.
Why does this matter?

Look at the woke faces of losers who are ahead of the game.

I think they just want to chill and hang out, spend some money at times. I really couldn’t speak for them though.

How can they justify making every Eternal player regear every season , whats the point of Eternal now

well, if you have no gear, you don’t need a build template
