Yes this is another form post about the RNG and how it’s being abused by this team but I’m hoping that together if we make enough noise, they will do something about it.
The amount of RNG is just crap. It’s because of this bad RNG, no one in the WORLD could do pit 200 right now. All your gear had to be 4 star and maxed out in the perfect stat in Masterworking. The odds of finding three star in the stats you need is beyond reasonable to get.
Yes I know the gear that drops should be random but when we go to the Occultist, I should not have to try and reroll one piece of gear 20+ times to see some of the rarest affixes.
Tempering is still a Joke. I’m so happy this team is ok with bricking, We are not and Maybe it’s time for another round of D4 Bad… did they forget how fast they were about to lose their jobs when they didn’t listen? Masterworking is just about as bad.
Things are a lot better now they when the game first came out but Now they are using and abusing the RNG factors too much.

going to be honest, without the RNG the game would be really, really terri-hella-bad.

I understand your feelings about RNG in game and I am also so annoyed with the Tempering system.
I am not annoyed with the RNG mechanism applied to Tempering but the failure in the flow design of the Tempering. Devs just need to add a return point every time we fail in Tempering, it would be perfect, and of course the more you Tempering, the more gold and materials you spend.
There is still some kind of flaw or heavy weighting going on with tempering. Just the other day i bricked three rings, And belive it or not it bricked all three rolling the same affix! Yes the same affix! Thats 12 times in a row the same affix. That is not real RNG.

Rng is fun. Rng on rng on rng with terrible weighting on everything is not fun.

Rng is fun when it is random
Rng is not fun when it is rigged
(
(You can weigh them a little but when it is heavily weighted then you need 10x drop to compenstae for it and the it becomes uselesss loot raining from the sky and witout a filter it is tedious)

All ARPGs need RNG to keep them interesting. Imagine getting all the gear you need at the end game off the first monster you kill in the game.
With that said, I believe the D4 devs nerfed loot drops because of the new difficulty system, because they also added several sources of player power with the expansion, and because of the lessons from Season 1 (add sugar to the medicine).
The loot nerf and stat squish were the medicine. All the new content is the sugar. Give them time to rebalance everything so it feels right. With the expansion and progression revamp, the game is going through a lot of changes quickly. It’s going to take some time to get things feeling just right.
But all Diablo games are about rng
Sounds like you need another game altogether chief

Harsh words sir harsh indeed
Yesterday, solo TZir drops in one run, Doombringer, Avaharion and four 3 GA items.
So, next seven years i’m doomed
So the Devs were gonna lose their jobs because of a few whiney kids on a forum?
If RNG is needed to keep player engage in the game then the gameplay is terrible. It’s not like people play slot machine on their tablet because of RNG.

i like the rng in the game. if it werent for the rng i would have been done the first couple days of the season. having to actually hunt for loot in a loot hunting game is why i like this genre. i know the concept of rng is hard for some people.
It feels like the open world and helltides RNG does not drop enough ‘randomly’ exciting loot to feel like a good looting game. And then target farming brings out the understandable critique of ‘nothing to do’.
I think the seasonal caches have done a good enough job to help players get the new uniques needed to try the new seasonal build. But on the other hand when the expectation is 99.9% of loot is worthless versus only 99% of loot, then probably they have designed the casino poorly.
When it comes to loot, the core mechanic of the game is a combination of RNG and weighting. Suppress one or the other and the game cannot work anymore.
However, when it comes to mats or levelling, I don’t really like that RNG comes into play. Hated RNG for the Stygian Stones in the Pit in S4 (better in S5 with the Hordes). Don’t like that levelling Glyphs in the Pit next season will be RNG controlled.
Working as intended?
RNG is the foundation of games like this. imho it should require the absolute best gear and build to complete something like the highest tier in Pit. To me this is exactly what pit is for, to measure your build against what is possible. If you could complete the highest tier without the best possible build, it would lose that value as a yardstick for builds. It’s what Bilzz might describe as aspirational vs achievable. Now if standard endgame like dungeons or open world, bosses or mid-tier pit required this I would agree that the game was broken.
I’m fine with enchanting, the game needs gold sinks. it would be an even better gold sink if there was a miniscule change of getting a GA 0.o
On tempering I agree. Either items should be more attainable so that destroying them is less painful OR failing to get the right temper should not mean the destruction of the item. there should be some way to get more tempering chances or reset it.
Edit: I guess what I’m trying to say is I don’t mind feeling artificially held back a little to slow things down a bit but I don’t want to feel totally screwed lol

You should of tried the PTR lol, pit 100 was easy and boring, nothing in the PTR was slightly challenging, it’s easier then it ever was, leveling is even faster and the gimmick they decided to use to prolong gameplay was 100 Paragon points that don’t matter at all sadly
Yeah I played LS in PTR. I got to 97 with suboptimal gear, but I understand there were broken things in PTR hopefully most of that is resolved b4 launch.
